@no1marauder saidYes that is what I meant. If that was actually enforced on this forum I would consider becoming a paying member again.
As directed at a particular poster, fine.
As directed at a public figure or a proposed policy or position, I don't.
So "User X is a racist), no.
But "User X's continuing support for the maintenance of statutes of Confederate leaders on public lands is racist", OK.
@kevcvs57 saidWell context is everything, but calling a post racist seems to me to be tantamount to calling the poster racist. That's far more damaging to discourse than calling someone an "idiot", and if "idiot" is discouraged by the posting guidelines then ...
Is it ok to point out that in your opinion a post is idiotic or racist without labelling the actual poster.

@sleepyguy saidHit the "!" on a post, look it over but just "Close" instead of "Submit Alert".
@no1marauder
How does one view the alert reasons without actually alerting a post?
@sleepyguy saidPerhaps spades should just consider remodeling to a different tool if they don't like being called a spade.
It would improve the tone of discourse on the forum even more to ban the use of the pejorative "racist".
Let's all agree, shall we?
@sleepyguy saidThat's what I have generally done for a while though I've probably lapsed at times in the heat of the moment.

I would support that policy; calling people "racists" isn't conducive to reasoned debate.
@kazetnagorra saidDo you think it is helpful for reasoned debate to call another poster a "racist"? Or have you just given up on the idea of "reasoned debate" at RHP?

@no1marauder saidI respect that.
In the spirit of compromise and hopefully increased goodwill, I intend to change my Forum avatar as soon as I can decide on an appropriate replacement. I will keep the work of art as my Header on My Profile page, however.
@no1marauder saidThanks.

@no1marauder saidLOL. A great choice.
People offended by John Locke can [expletive deleted] off.
@no1marauder saidI don't think it is helpful, but I also don't think I can do much to help those deserving of the label here on RHP.
Do you think it is helpful for reasoned debate to call another poster a "racist"? Or have you just given up on the idea of "reasoned debate" at RHP?
