@earl-of-trumps saidI said colony, not colonize.
.
Really?!
colonize
verb (UK usually colonise)
UK /ˈkɒl.ə.naɪz/ US /ˈkɑː.lə.naɪz/
[ T ]
to send people to live in and govern another country:
Peru was colonized by the Spanish in the 16th century.
European nations set about violently invading and colonising large chunks of the globe.
Some scientists believe that we will have to colonise ...[text shortened]...
And just who were the people that we sent to colonize The Philipines, Japan and South Korea?
The USA stole the Philippines from Spain. It was Spain's colony and the USA made it their own colony. This is basic and undisputed history. The only thing disputable is whether or not it is still a colony. I say it is. The military bases indicate that.
@athousandyoung saidThe Spratlys are closer to Vietnam and Indonesia than China or the Philippines. Not sure why the Philippines claimed them.https://www.newsweek.com/china-maritime-militia-philippines-south-china-sea-thitu-pag-asa-zhongye-1786053?amp=1
China's Maritime Militia Swarms Philippine-Held Island in South China Sea
China unilaterally claims islands and fishing areas that belong to the Philippines and they harass and ram into Filipino fishing boats
That is between China and the Philippines. If the Philippines is not a de facto colony of the USA why is the USA involved and expanding their military bases there?

" As the Guardian points out, between 1961 and 1973, six African independence leaders were assassinated by their ex-colonial rulers, including Patrice Lumumba of Congo."

Why are ex-colonial rulers assassinating leaders in their former colonies? Is it to get their colonies back? And why is the western empire helping them? Is it because all of the ex-colonial rulers that assassinated leaders in their former colonies are part of the western empire?
@metal-brain saidThat would most likely have been France. Francafrique is France’s modern evolution of what used to be its West African empire.

The Philippines-USA dynamic is nothing like Francafrique.
@athousandyoung saidFrance always joins the USA in imperialistic wars.

They didn’t help invade Iraq
France didn't help do a lot of things, nobody knows what side they were on after WW2.
@athousandyoung saidThat is true. Jacques Chirac did not bow down to the empire. He was a good man.

I said colony, not colonize.

1) The US did NOT colonize the Philippines, nor is the Philippines American soil. Its citizens are NOT American, cannot vote in American elections, and were not allowed to even have dual citizenship to also be American citizens until 2003.
2) The presence of US military bases does NOT indicate that it is a US colony. I just printed this, for God's sake:
"the US had around 750 bases in at least 80 countries as of July 2021."
These 80 countries are NOT colonies of the US.

There is your proof. The Philippines are not an American colony

Germany is a colony of the west. Who do you think won the war?
England is part of the western empire. England is a shareholder of the Federal Reserve System. The Rockefellers are shareholders of the Bank of England. The Netherlands too. Deutsche Bank is a shareholder of the FRS. That is how they formed an empire of alliance.
Why do you think the propaganda in the U ...[text shortened]... l in currencies other than the US dollar why do you think all of those countries wanted war on Iraq?

I never said colonize. I said colony.
1: an area over which a foreign nation or state extends or maintains control
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/colony
@soothfast saidYou need to learn history. Puppet states are the norm throughout history, not some delusion. Look up "the age of imperialism" and learn something. Nobody invades a country unless they intend to control it.
You probably shouldn't be eating those funny mushrooms growing under your bed.
There are no good guys fighting bad guys. You have been watching too many movies. You need to think of it like competing mafias. It is bad guys fighting bad guys. There are no white hats.

@Metal-Brain - "Stop being dishonest. I never said colonize. I said colony.

EoT - You lying weasel, I SAID "colony, as in - "There is your proof. The Philippines are not an American colony"
Can you hear me now?
And since in order to have a "colony", it is perfectly Ok to say "colonize" in the discussion. You are dreadful.
@Metal-Brain - "1: an area over which a foreign nation or state extends or maintains control

EoT - The US does not maintain control over the Philippines, they are not a US colony.
Hawaii is a US colony. You see the difference?
Now stop bugging me with this minutia
