I will set this poser for you and then count myself out as I already did this myself over 20 years ago, after a fashion, anyway.
Assuming you're now in the country where you feel you belong, and something dreadful happened - politically - the "X" in the thread title - something you simply could not stand for [doesn't matter what it is, chuntering on about what the last straw was is off topic!!... and "X" was such that you decided to leave your country and start up in another one, as a mixture of protest, escape, resignation, personal renewal and determination...
Where would you go?
Why?
What would you have to offer that country?
And what would you expect to be the problems you'd face there?
Originally posted by FMFI suggested a while back that conservatives should move to Greenland and start a new country. It is a perfect place because there are virtually no people, and with global warming should soon be an ideal place to live in the near term. To get there, you have to travel by ocean or sea, thus making illegal entry difficult. Once there, they should overcome any local inhabitants and set up a government of some sort. A constitution will immediately be drafted which will first address the need to limit government above all else at the penalty of hanging in the public square.

Any questions?
Where would you go? Indonesia
Why? Because you are there. 😉
What would you have to offer that country? My tax dollars
And what would you expect to be the problems you'd face there? Probably a language barrier. But I am sure I could find a Cambridge educated English tutor to help me somewhere. The place must be loaded with them I am sure.

Originally posted by whodeyWell, Greenland - although for all intents and purposes autonomous - belongs to Denmark. So you cannot just "overcome any local inhabitants and set up a government" and write a constitution. There is a real world out there whodey, and there are real people fed up and restless all over it. This thread is about that. Are you interested in playing along with the OP's premise and questions?
I'm serious!! ðŸ˜

The hard part will be getting there. Then once we arrive and the local inhabitants try to get rid of us, we simply sue them decrying bigotry and/or racism. If they send us away, we simply come back in a never ending battle of futility on their part.
Originally posted by whodeyThe OP is not about starting up a new country - that has been discussed here before. This is about moving to another country, as it is, as seen, warts and all. It would be interesting to hear your response to this premise.

As a Zionist once said, Oivay, no tanks, we will start our own country.

I can't narrow it down to one country off the top of my head but for the sake of furthering the discussion I would consider a flat tax structure and a populace valuing freedom as important criteria. Countries recently under the Soviet boot heel, say Georgia, come to mind. Being that close to Putin would have to be carefully weighed, of course.
