The author's intent in the usage was an application for business, no doubt, but the base of the idea is applicable for all areas of that drive to move forward.
Some call it greed, avarice, dominance, and lose the forest for the trees. Man civilizes. Against the odds, the elements, man moves forward. Chilling to some, inspiring for others.
