I personally think that some of the problems in this debate forum (abuse, repeated topics, etc.) can be eliminated by more stringent moderation. I am an active participant on another forum, and repeated topics are routinely deleted (instead you are encouraged to post new ideas/updates/new spins/etc./ in pre-existing topics) and insulting behavior (like the post I have quoted) results in a suspension. Repeated abuse to other users results in a ban,
Much as I dislike such Draconian measures, I feel that this particular forum can only benefit from harsher punishments. There are no end of interesting topics here that end up turning into puerile displays of Internet muscle-flexing. I, for one, feel like I could learn more if such behavior was curtailed, AND I would feel more inclined to participate more actively in some of the more interesting debates. Heretofore, I have refrained as some people feel that aggression is tantamount to reason.
