Hey, we're using taxpayer money to buy preferred stock in big banks so then can use the money to buy smaller banks. That's "socialism", ain't it (well, maybe of the national kind)?

Right....and pay $9.40 a gallon at the gas pump to help pay for all the handouts. Americans would LOVE that!

well since our average income is higher than yours, we can afford the expensive gas. and i'd rather have free healthcare than cheap gas in any case.

It's a little tedious I know but when ever someones says "free health care" they must expect to be corrected.

There is no such thing as free. Either you pay in an around about way after having your money filtered through a few bureaucracies, or worse, much worse, you make someone else pay.

Yeah, I know. It's called evolution of humanity and society.

Live with it. It's the future.

- Costless

I've always been intrigued by Americans' fear of government. Perhaps I can find out here where it comes from.

Why is it so terrible if the collective pays for something rather than individuals? You already do this for the police, fire department and army, for instance. Would it be better if there was no police and everyone hired bodyguards instead?

Didn't say anything about terrible or not terrible, didn't say anything about police, fire or army. Was just pointing out a common error, the claim of "free" health care. Call it what you like, just don't call it 'free'.
