I know. Thats who I look at on the right.
For the left it would be such persuasive individuals as Bill Maher, Rachel Maddow, Michael Moore and Keith Olbermann.
I find them intellectually fascinating.

On the right: one I'm especially familiar with is Thomas Sowell.

On the left: Noam Chomsky all the way, baby.

Maybe she doesn't count (I don't know), but I have a lot of respect for Diane Rehm. She seems to really be able to hear both sides of an issue even though she obviously has a strong opinion about most of the things she discusses on air.

You find Keith Olbermann intellectually fascinating?

What's the catch?

On the right - David Brooks, Krauthammer and Will.

On the left - Krugman, Eugene Robinson and if I may, Friedman.

(It could be a writer or academic or philosopher, as well as a politician).
I'll say I'm a right wing conservative, and I cannot think of anyone on the left
I find persuasive. Most of the time they question people's motives that they
disagree with not the details. As far as someone who is balanced I like
Tom Sullivan I doubt most people know who he is, he isn't as well known as
a lot of others but I like him.

I'd say Michael Moore is a voice of the left whom I tend to find generally persuasive; his films ,while containing some information of questionable credibility, never fail to present viewers with an insightful and astute critique of the subject matter.

As for the right, I can't think of any individual who particularly excels all others in being persuasive, but I'd say in the context of Fox News for example Bill O'reilly easily stands out as the most believable of commentators.

That is because Oreilly is fair and balanced. 😛

As far as Michael Moore, I find him to be a foul mouthed leftist who does not mind twisting the truth to persuade the populace that his way is the "right" way. I say if you can't persuade using the truth, then perhaps you are on the wrong side of the isle.

I like Tom Clancy. He's on the right isn't he?

Michael Moore, while he has much of value to say, is irritating to me somehow. I like Al Franken, Bill Maher, Colbert.

Sometimes he uses rather large words. That is impressive for such a small intellect. I too find him fascinating. 😀

Seriously though, I find Olbermann to be mean spirited and 100% partisan. One of the brilliant tactics Rush Limbaugh uses is that he also can be mean spirited, but in an upbeat and positive way. I have never seen anything like him in that regard. I think humor is key to this ability, for which Olbermann has no talent. In addition, Rush goes after some in the GOP. I never hear Olbermann go after Democrats.

I kinda like Al and Colbert, and Stewart, but not Maher. Maher to me has an ego the size of Michael Moore and is not really all that funny.

If it were not for Colbert and Stewart, I probably would not watch any of them.
