Do you seriously think because 'only' a few people died on that day, for instance, what would you have thought if that crowd screaming 'kill Pence' if they had actually found him, do you think those 'peaceful' protesters would have just dusted off his tux and shook his hand going 'it was all a joke'?

Democracy is slowly losing worldwide, in part thanks to the baseless claims that our elections are fraudulent. The same strategy worked in Myanmar.

They had a legal strategy. They had a political strategy. The protestors were cogs in a larger strategy, they were there to sow chaos and intimidate.

Hopefully, hopefully, the lesson here was that the US government is more fragile that it appears.
