@chesstachio saidWell, they have to contrast it with the movies
It’s like all of them are peaceful in million dollar homes with a stable family with a father figure.
It’s almost comical.
@chesstachio saidIt's been this way since the 50s. But some things are more common now.

I saw one last night with a black dad and a white, blonde mom.
And another had a gay relationship.
I know you refuse to see these things with your own eyes, but this is America.
They always show a stable family because corporations want you to know that you, too, can have this kind of idealized life if only you used their products. This has been going on in commercials since forever.
@suzianne saidNote how many news clips show single parents. Always the mom. And there is a culture where everyone is referred to as a cousin or a nephew, mom at the mike.

Then the new clean-up phrase, Baby Momma, to lend credibility to whatever the people are that have someone’s child but are not married to the someone. But it is acceptable in those cultures.......do you think that scenario will make it to commercials. I sure hope not. Naaa, probably not.

Gee, I wonder what you could be saying.
No, I don't.
@chesstachio saidWhy am I not surprised?
I was talking about the commercials being a majority of black families or interracial and a few gay ones.
It is very comical.

TV and other media advertising has noticeably changed in the UK also in terms of the ethnic diversity of the characters. The challenge advertising agencies have in the UK is that diversity and inclusion is a huge social and political topic but around 85% of the population (I’m estimating) identifies as white/British.
@chesstachio saidYep, mostly black or interracial couples or gay couples have become a normal thing in commercials now. Been a growing trend for a while.
