@eladar saidSo hint:
It is just part of the hypocrisy.
What is getting hyped? Covid.
What is causing just as many deaths, perhaps more? Pneumonia.
Nobody would care anymore about the covid death numbers as the pneumonia, if it was not hyped by the government and media.
Why were you surprised that I was concerned with official counts when in fact I put official count in the title of the thread?
official numbers for April (your link):
Covid-19 52586
Pneunomia 39726
Suryl Covid-19 is overhyped.
I would like to look up numbers for April for previous years, since pneunomia death had a maximum in April, what I would not expect.
About my confusion with "official" you gave no link, so I looked up numbers by the CDC. I admit not to have looked throughly.
@ponderable saidOfficial numbers look comparable to me. My point stands.

@eladar saidI believe they are more estimated numbers than actual numbers.

@very-rusty saidI believe that the young should have been allowed to get immunity naturally and the retired elderly folks should be given protection.

Some stores in town did this. They closed down early to disinfect the store, then the first hour of operation the next day was limited to elderly retired folks.
@eladar saidMany places here did the same thing, opening an hour early for the elderly or people with physical handicaps, or underlying conditions. Grocery stores were big on this!

@eladar saidNow we have 83142 and 96479 respectively (you realize that Covid-19 increased more than pneunomia?)
Who has the official death totals? I see lots of them out there, yet which numbers are official? Seems to me the only official numbers in the US come from the CDC.
Covid Deaths 76,874
Pneumonia 91,405
I suppose some would claim to know more than the experts.
For April we now have 53974 Covid-19 and 40507 for pneunomia (the pneunomia death are between 124% and 135% of expected values, so it is to be assumed that soem Covid-19 cases are counted as pneunomia cases.
Edit: The worldometers numer are for that time span are withing a 1% of the official number, so is there a hype?
Any comment?
@very-rusty saidWhat’s your point?
Do you stop and wonder if any of the numbers they are giving the public are correct?

@ponderable saidWe are over 1 million deaths which is 100 percent of expected red deaths. What does this mean? No more deaths than would be expected if covid did not happen.
Why do you talk about yourself in third person?
Edit: From the CDc webpage: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/cases-in-us.html
98261 dead, now you show us your link to a dcd publication wehre it says 76874 for today.
Pneumonia is still a larger number than covid and still nobody cares about pneumonia deaths.
Covid equals much to do about nothing.
