@moonbus saidI’m hoping that’s the case if for no other reason than the mental health implications if it turns out to be anything like a sizeable minority who buy into this narrative. I don’t think it has electoral implications for November even if the numbers are high they will be a fringe breakaway from Trumps preexisting base.
Bear in mind that foreign powers are known to be actively distributing disinformation for the explicit purpose of sowing confusion and discord to destabilize Western democracies. QAnon fits the bill for this type of interference in the democratic process. There may be no “groups” at all, beyond foreign agents provocateurs and a few domestic regurgitaters.
@suzianne saidI wonder how many real people believe this nonsense. I suspect that it’s mostly fluff—internet ’personas’ not flesh and blood people. Obviously, there must have been at least one flesh and blood poster who started it, but robots can be employed to create a virtual snowball effect, vastly over-rating the number of actual adherents. For example, the number of google searches on “qanon” does not reveal how many people are interested in the topic, since search engines routinely search other search engines.
Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Qanon supporter, has won her Republican primary race to qualify for the ballot for US Representative from Georgia's 14th District. She faces Democrat Kevin Van Ausdal in November.
Not so "fringe" any more, is it?
@suzianne saidThe unanswered question is, how many of those who support the candidate support her because she supports QAnon, rather than for other reasons (anti-abortion stance, a local bond issue, because she's a known local personality, etc.).

It's easy to demonstrate whether Q is a godsend revealing inside information
or just a cult gasbag.
Do you see what the US Gov does to people like Julian Assange and Chelsea Manning?
That's because those two had real and damaging information for release.
Are the feds this interested in the amazing Q...? NYET!
Settles that.
@suzianne saidWell no not if she stood on a Qanon platform no but I’m guessing / hoping she didn’t, but it’s worrying that you can get to be a candidate / member of the house with this level of mental illness.

@mott-the-hoople saidIt still is.
at one time the "lolita express" was a conspiracy theory.
@mott-the-hoople saidAbsolutely. So not all conspiracies theories are wrong.
at one time the "lolita express" was a conspiracy theory.
Epstein had a $50 Million B727 GIVEN to him. It is believed to be a gift from Les
Wexner with Israeli connections.
The theory is, the craft was outfitted with cameras and audio to record every
event that happened on the padded floors of the craft for setting up extortion
on the duped clients, like Bill Clinton that flew on the Lolita Express to Africa and
other places.
It makes sense because I just can't imagine someone giving a $$Billionaire
like Epstein, a FREE jet worth $50 million. Life just does not work that way.

In addition to his black Gulfstream, private helicopter and twin-engine Cessna 421, Epstein also owns a Boeing 727-200—a passenger jet with a seating capacity of nearly 200, modified for private use, including a Bloomberg terminal that lets him conduct much of his finance work while airborne. Locals dubbed Epstein's 727 the "Lolita Express" due to the frequent arrival of apparently underage women to Little Saint James, a nod to the Vladimir Nabokov novel about a middle-aged literature professor who justifies the repeated rape and sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl.
