That's a great question that really deserves it's own thread. I don't have time right now, so I'll keep it short:

Global warming is absolutely a concern. But if it were really as dire an emergency and some make it out to be, those same people would be amenable to considering global engineering solutions, like carbon sequestration and global dimming using aerosols.

The pr ...[text shortened]... o consume less are disingenuous about their threat assessment and not serious about a solution, IMO.
Powerful corporate interests?....Ya' think?
Joe Manchin has made millions off of King Coal and owns an obsolete, gross polluting coal fired power plant that,
still earns money and, mysteriously has managed many exemptions from EPA pollution standards.

Yet another weird thing about USAlien politics: why has this obvious Libertarian not yet been fired from the Democratic Party and replaced with an honest member? How sick is your political system that he can remain in office, supporting MAGAhatter politics on the Democrats' list?

Party politics....The Dems aren't as dogmatic as The GOP---
a bigger tent, if you will----W.Virginia is a solid Red state,
and Manchin----although stotlighted on recent crucial issues
can usually be counted on to vote Dem. That being said, it would
not surprise me to see him switch party affiliation, especially
if The Dems mount a primary opponent against him. Like it or no,
we have a TWO PARTY SYSTEM, a candidate needs the organization
(and money) from one of the two major parties. A third party
candidate, here in The US, is usually just a spoiler, drawing votes
away from a major party...........No one can doubt that Ralph Nader
cost Al Gore the 2000 election---an example.
