It is censorship in the we are annexed into the other room. If I want to post a religous thread here I should be able to. It's not like I'm following anybody around the room whispering in their ear while they try to play chess. If you don't want to read it then don't. Nobody is being forced to read anything.
Still all in all, it's calmer. I think I have been a large contributor to the discourse but now that I have got it out of my system, I plan to stay permanently out of Spirituality for good. I imagine that will gain around of applause from many. Deservedly so, I admit. I have to say I did have some fun, heated spats in there and I promise I will do my best to be respectful if I decide to venture in.
I think Religion (ooh see I wrote it and its not in Spirituality, maybe it will get moved? If so, I will let it die there) is such a personal subject for many of us. Even more so than politics. I think this has to do with the inevitable end for all of us...dying. Most of us attached ourselves to something that makes sense to our lives and when somebody challenges it, I think it tends to strike at our core. I know it did for me and that's why I have sometimes responded so viciously. I offer no apologies but more so an explanation or an attempted explanation as to why this is such a heated topic. Anyone else care to chime in?
I have to say I like things a little better with the new Spirituality forum. Obviously there are enough such threads that the forum is thriving, and it helps one find non-religious debates much easier as well.
I'd like to ask a question. What are people unable to do in the Debates forum now that they feel they should be able to do?

Religion can be discussed in Debates as a means to assist in a debate (i.e. Evolution vs Creationism or the Abortion issue). The reason for the new forum is because it went beyond just that and condemnation & preaching took place on one side which lead to bitter responses from the other. I think it just comes down to common sense really. Again, I repeat I am nobody of any authority to determine what goes in what forum but I believe that is acceptible conduct.

Originally posted by AThousandYoungThere are probably several threads in Spirituality that address that. Happy hunting 😉

Can we talk about religion in the debate forum? Yes, you can. If it is on topic, go for it. It is only a problem if it is off topic, or begins to hijack the thread. That is when it is a problem.
The new forum is for new religious posts to be created in. If you have a topic and you think the major gist of the thread will go in a religious direction, ...[text shortened]... check out if we are into religion... or a place to avoid if it is too much for someone.
