@suzianne saidYes, Suzianne, you make my avatar point. Everything, including the stuff of people who work harder than others, is available to you there. Take your computer so you can wax on about Nirvana.
Now I need to quit my job and move to Europe.
Here is a drawback for my coming though, I think about the following paragraph....I cannot IMAGINE such limitations in my life. This very day I am buying a small house, improving on it, including a $34K swimming pool, and will sell it in September for a 35% profit. And it so EASY.
KEY Points. Disadvantages of socialism include slow economic growth, less entrepreneurial opportunity and competition, and a potential lack of motivation by individuals due to lesser rewards.
I am a reward kind of guy, it beats riding around with my top down, a Shav pastime. zzzzzz
Actually I worry about you fellers, given the gross lack of incentive, etc, highlighted below. Please re-consider. After all, I will need incentivized people to construct my pool.

@averagejoe1 saidYou busting in here ranting your head off about money -- I'd say it's rich, but really it's just very poor. Even depraved. So you're spending your declining years scrounging for more money and yelling about it on forums full of folks who despise you. Really, who's the loser here?

In light of the actual topic of this thread, you remind me of an old saying, which I paraphrase: "Some get money to live, others live to get money." Speaking for myself, I try to live a life of intellectual and spiritual exploration, enrichment and growth. My paycheck is sufficient for that purpose, and I soon enough will have what is sufficient for a decent retirement of leisure.
@soothfast saidBut note that you speak not of leaving an estate to your children? Especially with an economy which will not likely rebound to the loftiness where it used to be? Do I dare say you think not of leaving something to your kids?

You also suggest that I, a productive person, should 'spend my declining years;' not being productive? My doctor and the internet tell me that I will live longer if I feel productive. Making money, being successful, coupled with community organization work, is all that I know. A hobby, frankly.
You think that I should just stop? Seriously?
And, who despises me? Just because I am a capitalist, and this forum is full of socialists, does not mean we hate each other. We learn from each other. I had never heard of MDNA till this week, I still don't know for sure what it is. I guess I will learn. Conversely, I suggested T Bills (tax free) to you guys several months ago, at 5.5%. I worry about the market, so parked my money there. Hope at least one of you got some, heard my plea.
@suzianne saidA good friend is in the process of immigrating to Germany. She promises to have an extra bedroom but I'm happy to snore on her couch.
Now I need to quit my job and move to Europe.
I too live on a clear, clean 1,000 acre lake in Wisconsin near two medial school hospitals and within easy reach of "culture". While most of my neighbors are GOP, there are liberals/progressives who live on the lake and have more money than God. Keep in mind that fascism is on the rise in Europe too.
@phranny saidThis is, of course, true.

It's a shame the direction Wisconsin has taken. They seemed more liberal in the past. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought the right turn they took was fairly recently.
We also have many retirement age GOP voters out in the country outside the urban centers where the true beauty of Arizona shines. I wish there were more progressives out there, cause I'd like my vote to actually mean something.
My basic problem, living in Europe, is what to do with the little free time I have.
On one hand, I need to shag a lot, on the other I’ve taken up cooking on a professional level, on the next, I drive around the Alps with my sun roof open (2800m last week… and I have vertigo.. ) and on fourth hand I have to make sure the sun’s reflection on the lake in front of the house doesn’t burn my Scottish skin.
Yeah… we Europeans are really slacking it.

@yeah-boy saidUhhh, was it me, or a post I made? Was it when I asked Soothfast why I should stop being productive, which is what he said. Does that make make me a shyte. Tell everyone one makes me a shyte.
@AverageJoe1
You are a piece shyt.
Bring it.
@averagejoe1 saidBS. I never said to stop being productive.

Apparently you equate "being productive" strictly with making money, and that right there is just sad. I'm not going to waste my time trying to open your blinkered eyes to other possibilities.
