@lemondrop saidTrump already announced to a cheering crowd on Saturday that he would pick a woman.
Cruz called Trump a sniveling coward
Trump will dangle the offer and then do his best to embarrass him
just like he did with Romney
he'll pick a woman
Though I'm sure he could immediately change his mind and the right wingers on this board would say that was "Great!" anyway, just like his engaging in "identity politics" is "Great!" while it is utterly contemptible if Democrats say they are going to select women and/or POC for specific posts.

@earl-of-trumps said"According to the Pew Research Center, Catholics represent 30.5% of the United States Congress as of January 2019. There are 141 Representatives and 22 Senators that are Catholic, which split as 99 Democrats and 64 Republicans."
I hope it's Amy Barrett because libs hate White Christians, especially Catholics.
Go Notre Dame!!! Hee-Haaaaaaaaa

BTW, Joe Biden is a white Catholic.
EDIT: Didn't know that Melania was a Catholic. Maybe he'll nominate her.

@mott-the-hoople saidThat would be the best possible scenario for the Democrats; she's grossly inexperienced and known as a ideologue. It would really put vulnerable Republican Senators in a pickle if they forced a vote before the election and make them do a lot of explaining even if they didn't.
my money is on Barrett

@no1marauder saidYou mean like Betsy Devos, Ben Carson, Scott Pruitt, etc., etc? Or even Trump himself?

Inexperience doesn't hold back candidates from positions of power in the Trump administration; but being an ideologue can get you promoted.
@vivify saidI suggest you re-read my post.

There's very little political blowback from Cabinet appointments, whereas a SCOTUS nomination now is going to be a dominant political story right before an election where perhaps as many as 10 sitting Republican Senators are in close races, with a number of them already down in the polls. It seems at least a plurality of voters oppose Trump picking a nominee in the first place; imagine when he picks someone who's been a judge for only three years and does so only because she has radical conservative views (as far as we know).
It's going to be a political dream for Democrats; if he does nominate Barrett, it seems to me the Republicans believe they are likely to lose anyway and want to get someone as conservative as they can on the bench now even if it means the loss will be worse because of it.
It's soooooooooooo stupid I still have a hard time believing they will do it when they have a judge like Lagoa who ticks all the boxes and would probably be a political asset (at least in Florida, which is absolutely essential for Trump to have any chance to win).

@mott-the-hoople saidNo. It’s uncreative hypocrisy.
