@zahlanzi saidHe want's his minority to rule the majority.
"What is your constant babbling on about mob rule ?"
It's simple, really. He wants the right kind of mob to rule.
@zahlanzi saidI think you may be speaking of me, I do not want minority to rule. I want MORE than just 51% to rule, no matter which party wins.
"It seems he wants a minority to rule."
No, that's just his excuse. He wouldn't mind the majority having the say if it was his group in the majority.
He knows however he won't ever be able to convince a majority of americans his ideas are better. Republicans haven't won the popular vote in like 20 years and the gap is increasing. They have to resort to gerrymandering and making sure the "wrong" people don't vote
You fellers get so personal, you say "He wouldn't mind the majority having the say, etc etc". It is not what I would mind, it is my saying that having the EC is the only way to keep 51% of those who vote from ruling all the rest. Please don't be mad. After all there are millions of people, including Sam Adams and Benjamin Franklin who think. like me, that it is the best way to run a system.
I ask again, why do some votes in the Senate,, or in a condominium development, require a 2/3 vote? Why?

@kingdavid403 saidNO. I will even go so far as to say that, if 2/3 of the people, (66😵) vote on something that I am against, I will respect the vote and go with it in a heartbeat, I will feel that the pulse of the vote would have worth. I, as a member of the losing side, will have had my say.
He want's his minority to rule the majority.
One can hardly argue with 66% of the people,, but it would be difficult to accept just a majority. Not enough teeth.
I dont know about that emoji, I didnt put it there
@averagejoe1 saidJoe, how did you forget you said this in our discussion about the electoral college? You just said the system allowed by the electoral college should be not the system to live under.
It is possible that just a few states can decide for the rest of the country. Whatever system would allow that should not be the system to live under.
@averagejoe1 saidWhen the Framers wanted an extramajority requirement, they wrote it into the Constitution. Something like the present system where routine legislation can't be passed except by 60 votes in the Senate is contrary to their expressed wishes.

@no1marauder saidThe senate rules are not the same rules as the election of a President, so I don't get your comparison. I simply mentioned the senate rules as applying to the more important votes, where more than 50% would be called for.

I thus asked, why not the same percentage for something as important as installing Joe Biden as president?

@vivify saidI did?. I would like to see where you see that, but I know and you know and everyone knows that I think the EC is the last defense against your oncoming surge of socialism.

@averagejoe1 saidWhat exactly is this mob rule you are talking about ?
If the college is eliminated...........wait, did you not read my opening monologue? You want mob rule? You don't want the peons to have a voice? I thought you were a liberal. Screw the little people. Right? (had to say right, Suzanne used to say that, In Writing! It looked funny in writing.). Right!!
Who are these people ?
The only thing that comes to mind with me is Jan 6, 2021.
Am I close ??
@averagejoe1 saidQueer signs ??
Maybe I will start a thread in Kev's honor, his lot in the UK are pouring milk out in grocery stores, on the floor, while mothers look on in disbelief. What is wrong with his people? They have those queer signs,,,,"Plant Based Future". And all of the males (cant say men)seem emasculated and the girls are fat. They wear glasses, and they have on used clothing. The ...[text shortened]... it!
I think we are witnessing big time decay, worldwide. Lib celebs are leaving California!
Hilarious !! Accidental comedy at its finest.
btw, did you know that the beef and dairy industry has a larger carbon footprint than the aviation industry ?
btw, climate change is not a hoax !!
And for a regular church goer like yourself, no, you cannot pray climate change away.
@mghrn55 saidI don't know anything about Jan 6, and the 16 months of one-sided inquests do not see Trump getting indicted that I can tell. So, the Jan 6 thing is worth nothing.

Mob rule is an oft used phrase where the lesser of a crowd are overrun by the larger, being the mob.
@mghrn55 saidYou think we humans can change climate !?!? Mother Nature!?!?

@averagejoe1 saidAaaand a far too blatant lie again from the right.
I don't know anything about Jan 6,
Joe, you can stop trying to bluster us. We've all read your posts. It's useless denying anything.
@averagejoe1 saidJoe Biden got way more than 50% you halfwit it’s Republican candidates who get the White House with a minority of the popular vote.

Tell me Joe how is the 48% any less of a mob than the 52% why are the minority of voters who gave Trump the White House not a mob even when they gather as an actual mob and storm the capital in order to usurp the will of the majority?

You see,, the Republican candidates got the WH with a Majority of the Electoral College Vote... THAT is how the Repubs got the WH. They did NOT get the WH with a minority of the popular vote.
This is just one more example of how you libs twist words around and seem to want us conservatives to fall in line with it. Just pitiful debating.
My statement above is dead-on correct, and yours is dead-on wrong. But weenies refuse to ever admit error. You will not even admit what a failure your president is, but you may get a sense of it in 20 days.
@shallow-blue saidI have never donated one moment of my time to see what is going on with the Jan 6 hearings. Further, I care not about the findings. But that is getting a bit personal here, why are you guys so personal?
