@wildgrass saidNo, cars can kill and need to be made illegal.
I want the freedom to drive my car through red lights.

@eladar saidYes, obviously, I think maybe you missed the whole point.
Reckless driving laws do not stop reckless driving. If we want to stop deaths by cars we need to make cars illegal. It is the cars that might kill people.
Public health / public safety prohibitions do no prevent all deaths, just like making murder illegal does not prevent murder.
We can ask nicely all we want, but people are still less likely to sell contaminated foods or build unsafe buildings or drive recklessly through school zones if it is prohibited to do so.

@wildgrass saidIf you look at the numbers from a rational perspective forcing an experimental genetically engineered vaccine on people is totally unnecessary.

This thing has been so hyped and government reaction to this thing has been so blown out of proportion I suppose it is expecting too much to have most people view it rationally.

@wildgrass saidAs genetically modified (GM) foods are starting to intrude in our diet concerns have been expressed regarding GM food safety. These concerns as well as the limitations of the procedures followed in the evaluation of their safety are presented. Animal toxicity studies with certain GM foods have shown that they may toxically affect several organs and systems. The review of these studies should not be conducted separately for each GM food, but according to the effects exerted on certain organs it may help us create a better picture of the possible health effects on human beings.
@Eladar
What's wrong with genetic engineering?
If we're thinking rationally, then how is "I don't trust the experimental vaccine because it's too new for long term data" tenable alongside "I am fully confident that this brand-new virus has few if any long term effects for young people"?

@eladar saidThat problem is with growth hormone not genetic modification.

@wildgrass saidIt says certain genetically modified food. We do not know what is causing it.

I view it as the introduction of hydrogenated oils and trans fats.
@eladar saidThe article you posted was about food modified with GH, which is a genetically engineered recombinant protein. Of course giving GH to cows is going to cause problems, but it has nothing to do with genetic engineering. They're literally just trying to make cows grow a lot faster.

When you type "genetically engineered vaccine" you're making it sound worse than it is with no obvious reason for thinking that genetically engineered makes something worse. It's just a vaccine. We have 6-month safety data on 40,000 clinical trial participants.
