No. There’s a part of the brain that’s different in people who are born a different gender than they feel.
"Our results show that the brain structure of [trans women] aligns with neither their biological sex (male) nor their perceived gender (female)."
Humans understand what males (XY) and females (XX) are, and there is broad support in society for segregation on that basis in some areas. We've decided that that segregation does not violate anyone's rights - quite the opposite. That segregation PROTECTS certain rights. This decision comes from us, not from science.
Science now informations us that, for some XY's (and in this study the trans subjects were mostly under hormone therapy), their brains look different - not like XY, not like XX. Interesting.
BUT... what to do with that information is always a decision that is taken by We The People. Not by scientists. Maybe we do nothing.
Given that we are talking about changing the way we protect people's rights, it would probably be good to submit any changes in how we define genders and what follows from that to a Constitutional amendment, to make sure that a supermajority is on board.
Until that happens - its XX and XY and that's all.
@Zahlanzi saidNo, it is being taught so kids would have an awareness of the social/historical significance of judeo-christian-muslim figures and concepts, same as having an awareness of Greek/Roman mythology, so kids don't go Duhhhh when they are brought up in conversation/movies/books, etc.
but that's not the intent now, is it? it's not going to be taught as mythology it's going to be taught as the only right way to live. More than that, the only right way is a specific someone's interpretation of a garbage book
It's not being pushed as a religion they have to follow.
@spruce112358 saidDoesn't sound too bad
I dug into it a bit. First, the facts:
Bluebonnet Learning K-5 RLA Units/Resource ID: BLRLAGK/Grade Range: Kindergarten has eleven units. AFAICT, Biblical anecdotes are mentioned in two (in bold):
Unit 1: Nursery Rhymes and Fables
Unit 2: The Five Senses
Unit 3: Fairy Tales and Folktales
Unit 4: Plants: How Do They Grow?
Unit 5: Farms: From the Ground Up
Unit ...[text shortened]... and the Christian Bible. Solomon is also described in the Quran, the holy book of the Muslim faith.

And I am saying nothing about abandoning one group’s rights. What I am saying is that there is scientific proof that, beyond any form of guilt on their part, there is a group of people who also need rights and protection.
A group who although physically are either XY or XX, have distinct brain patterns not to adhere to this classification.
And you can sit there avoiding the evidence, but ultimately it is a group which also deserves protections.
@shavixmir saidWe are never going to lay guilt on anyone because their brains are wired differently. 🙂

Government exists to protect *all* our rights *equally*.
All. Equally.
Sometimes that is a tricky balancing act. But we always get it right in the end.
