BTW, they used American tax dollars to help them do it. 😳
Wow, sorry to here that. 😳
But with that many years of experience, they must have compinsated you greatly, didn't they? I think that the auto industry downfall was coming sooner or later though.

That's right - union contracts wrecked that industry by saddling it with an unrealistic wage structure and astronomical legacy costs.

Like you're the only person ever to get kicked in the nuts by life.

Big deal, you got over 40 yrs on the gravy-train, screwin' the pooch and building crappy cars.
Now you've got your juicy pension and still blame your fate on Bush.

You're just lucky they don't pay you what you're actually worth .. you'd still have a job, and GM would build a car that might last more than 3 yrs.

You sound like the typical person who doesn't work in a factory, but think that people who do are lazy. I started out working on the assembly line because I couldn't afford to go to college. But I took extra classes and applied for a skilled trades position. After 3 years I attained a job as an apprentice pipefitter, which involved 2-1/2 years of college classes along with a 4 year apprenticeship.

After becoming a journeyman Pipefitter I went on salary and worked for many years as a construction and maintenance supervisor over skilled trades. I had to consistently take classes for my position.

After awhile I worked my way into Plant Layout and then advanced to the position of Plant Equipment Design, which required me to take many more classes in AutoCad, Facility Design, and Engineering. My job was to show the engineers how to build mechanical systems.

I doubt if you have 1/10th the knowledge I do in Engineering, so don't show your ignorance by making statements like, "You're just lucky they don't pay you what you're actually worth..."

Someone needs to help you with your 3rd grade English...
It's "you're", not "your".

Come back when you can write as well as a 3rd grader. Maybe we'll listen to you then.

Nice resume, way to go.
Hope you didn't throw your shoulder out patting yourself on the back so hard.

I worked on an assembly line for half a shift once .. never came back from lunchbreak.
I never thought those people working there were lazy ... simple, but not lazy.
You couldn't afford to go to college and my old man wouldn't let me finish high school. I was his one boy work crew on the farm.

We all get crap to overcome, some do, and some end up as "victims" of something or other.
40 years on the GM assemby line is a wasted life IMO ... safe, profitable and almost any wart can do it. All you need be able to do is shut down your brain for 40 hrs a week and plod along on the treadmill. It's the kind of job that looks great when you're 18, but 40 yrs later you realise you've done zero with your life.

and your back hurts.

Then you get "downsized."

Then the end result of your entire life becomes the fault of the company ... couldn't have anything to do with the choices you've made along the way .. it's that evil company that screwed you.

He's a putz. He sold himself out to the job when he was young, and stuck to it for 40 yrs. He fed and raised his family for 40 yrs on the money paid by GM .. and then they screwed him.

What a surprise! ... another victim of life.

You have a serious problem with your reading skills. I spent a little over 3 years on the assembly line and then went on skilled trades. I progressed into management and engineering.

You, my friend, could not even qualify to get a simple apprenticeship in any skilled trade. You lack reading and communication skills.

This begs the question...why did you leave the assembly line?
You are more than simple enough for any assembly line.
