With the Viet Nam war over. The 1970's in America saw a slow drift in public sentiment to the right wing. Democrats simply assumed their liberal agenda would keep on winning much as it had before. Enter 1980 and the Reagan revolution, and the dem's stayed largely out of power for the next 12 years. The same thing is happening now. If the Democratic party wants to win again, they need to:
* Take a long, hard look at what they are trying to sell the American people, because most voters aren't buying it.
* Find out why so many working-class white men have drifted over to the GOP and devise a sustainable plan to get them back. (Perhaps stop making them the poster boy for every evil deed in the country would help)
* Stop bashing Trump and the GOP and start finding workable solutions to real world problems.
I don't know how long the Dem's will be in denial over this, but I hope it won't take another 12 years.

The Democratic Party does not 'see' white males as a group.
Being black? You're in. Or female? Yep. Or a black female? Woo Hoo! Definitely in.
But white? Hmmmm. Male? Hmmmm. White Male... yeeeeah, no, sorry. That's not going to get you in. Do you have any thing else? Are you disabled? Gay? Massive student loans? 😆

In America, white is the "default". White males, mostly. And trust me, they LIKE it like that.
@mchill saidWhen the National Socialist Party won the election of 1932, did the other parties stand around wondering what THEY did wrong?

No, they got off their ass and started a resistance.
@mchill
Biden waged class warfare on the poor. Not many people realize that, but they felt it. President Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID-relief package was class warfare. He stuck it to the poor by giving 90% of it to the rich and taxing the poor disproportionately with the inflation that resulted.
Inflation itself is class warfare because it hurts the poor more than the rich, but he stole from the poor to give to the rich. All with money the fed reserve created out of nothing like a counterfeiter.
It was a scam. Few people are aware of the scam, but they know they are hurting. They are deeper in debt. They feel the financial pain.
@mchill saidAround 50% of people in the US seemingly want 2 things above all else and most will sacrifice the secondary wants to get the first.

1. A stable growing economy which demonstrably benefits working class jobs and controls inflation (not the trickle down BS)
2. Immigration managed with properly controlled borders
- Secondary concerns: healthcare, abortion rights and climate
- Tertiary concerns: civil rights, liberties and education.
It doesn’t mean the secondary and tertiary concerns aren’t important values, it’s just that the people weren’t worried about them at this time.
So we can easily see how the Democrats went wrong by focusing too much on the wrong things and preaching about civil moral values, loss of civil liberties and all that hyperbole. People aren’t interested in those things right now and they didn’t believe all the screeching from the left about it. The mass media probably didn’t help; in my opinion the media these days makes people feel like they are being gaslit with all that stuff.
Hence the landslide for Trump.

Keep brushing off white males like they don't matter, and Dems will keep losing.

@Metal-Brain saidYou've never said anything truthful on these forums ever.
Prove me wrong. Calling the truth stupid never sways anyone.
@Suzianne saidThey didn't, sadly enough and they handed over power after the famous fire at the Reichstag. Even some of those rebuilding democracy after WW2 have been voting in favour of the "Ermächtigungsgesetz"

@Ponderable saidI can't tell you how sad that makes me. I'm seeing that now on the news channels. They're acting like this is not some insane madman at the wheel. Like this is perfectly normal.

@Suzianne saidA feature of democracy - some says its greatest weakness - is that a horde of emotional idiots can vote for a thing, and get it. 😆
