It seems that there are people who think the person who don't get anyther reply win a debate.

I would say: yes. If they convinced the opponents, but even then it would be nice if the opponents would make the alst statementsaying something like "that was convincing" Another: 2said you so in the first place" would take away from that win imho.

No. If one speaker exhausts people by just repeating things, that weher shown to be without any merit they just decide that further debate is not worthwhile.

Thoughts?

Me,, I really appreciate your shining a light on this, a true weakness in the Forum. A very good example, I may write a specific question, maybe about money or investments, and someone will write back about Trump and taxing rich people. Totally unrelated to the question.
Another thing, we often admit error in thought, or we even agree with liberals. I have often registered by disappointment in Trump, for instance. We all know of the 'problems' with Joe Biden, but libs are quite disingenuous when never ONCE voicing discontent with this man.
Why would we bother writing thoughtful posts when we now libs will go off the wall.? Ask me a question. I will answer it.

It is really a drag to have a question with an obvious answer go unanswered by liberals. Should Joe acknowledge his granddaughter? Why do they not say yes? Why? If this could be explained,, it would help the forum.

Correct.
It’s the only worthwhile response to a repeat artist like yourself.

I’m glad it irritates you.

Here again, ( no offense, Shav) , Shav makes a non-productive senseless jab, and avoids my extremely germane question. I’ll ask him again….Shav, should Biden acknowledge his granddaughter ?

A gross misrepresentation of your posts and how people respond to their inanity is not a germane point joe it’s either delusional or an outright point.

Generally people come here, not to be convinced of anything, but because they love the sound of their keyboard going tik tak, The pseud known as shag doody for brains is really missing out on that with his single emoji replies.

I concede No1 has caught me out a couple of times, one was the issue of immigration, the other was the child/parent relationship where I was arguing age of consent and No1 made the point the state has no business in that familial relationship. Although No1 does not realise the full implications of that as a principle he did give me cause to reflect and modify my position, doff of the cap to you good sir.

Should Biden acknowledge his granddaughter? You are losing cred here, but then, all of you weak debaters are.
Ask me a question, Kev. You know, you could answer that question quicker than bothering to ask me one.

Most people debate with a goal of winning, but most people do not like admitting they are wrong so a lack of a reply is the only thing that can give a person of winning. People still lose debates and keep replying though. Perhaps that indicates an unwillingness to admit defeat when it is obvious to others who pay attention.

Perhaps too much emphasis is being put on winning from posters here, but we are all chess players and the goal is to win. As it is now, the best admission of defeat I get is ad hominem attacks. When debates get heated people are often sore losers.

Seriously Joe, I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.

I haven’t heard about Biden’s grand daughter. Why won’t he recognise her? I have never heard anything about any of it.
I presume it’s some angle from the Hunter Biden tale, of which I have heard very little of either.

There’s a war in Ukraine, Erdogan looks quite ill, Sudan is a mess, etc.
These are the stories in the news.

Oh Biden was in Ireland or something last week (I didn’t pay it any attention), court cases against trump have started, Fox news took a rightious bitch-slapping and Tucker got sacked.

That’s what’s been in the news about America. Nothing about Biden’s grand daughter.
So, basically, I have no opinion on the matter.
To me, also, it’s a completely moot point. I couldn’t care less about the subject.

You seem to think it’s something big though.

Debating is generally exploring ideas.
But on this forum it’s generally people sending, rather than exploring. And people get irritated by repeated subjects, many from the fringes of society, which are peddled as facts, rather than opinions.

And irritated people give irritated responses.
And I obviously adnit to being part of that problem.
