People don't want truth. They want to be on the "biggest" team.
We have nowhere to go but up.

I just prefer to take the side of those who don't pretend to know it all. Pretty much makes me a Bush kind of guy. I'll take "Real" over "progressive" any day. The problem with being progressive is that the progress is directed toward same-old-same-old. No march toward a goal is worth while if we march without a sense of wonder and an even better sense of humor.
Conservatives have that. Lib's don't. Sorry. So until that wonderful day when we allow all thinking -- powerful and simple -- equally, just count me in with my religious, conservative buddies. They are my kind of folk.

lol😕
Don't claim to know it all, but you line up with religious conservatives?
I learned in graduate school how little I know, but the Bush Administration doesn't know whether salmon need water. Some things can be known through a little science, a little history, a little reading--many Bushites eschew all these things, and make their ignorance a source of pride. They should be 😳

You are sounding more and more like a typical elite. Just had to let us know your 'grad school' had been an impressive experience? Why was it? You don't sound like you are overcome with humility at the experience. More like you just wanted to let us all know you truly are an "elite" and a real intellect.
As to a "little" of anything... it makes people very dangerous. They begin assuming they can live other peoples lives for them. Smarter. Stronger. Faster. Like a six million dollar brain loosed on the internet.
As to reality. I tried starting a discussion of that recently. Nobody... yourself included had anything to say about it. So don't make fun of others. Especially people like Bush who is at least ten times smarter than you are and three times more in "reality". You know how I know?
Because he is the elected leader of the most powerful nation on earth. And you waste your life on the internet impressing us.

Good post Kelly.
I will second what you say about the "free pass" to the good old gay's!
Errrr... oops. "Good ol' Boys" network.
Perfect example -- and I hate to keep harping -- is Michael Moore.

I thought Enron was bad! Listening to Rush today it has been pointed
out that this has to do with tax dollars too. I guess double standards
seem to be in who we go after for fraud too. I wonder what the head
lines would be if someone like Martha Steward was incharge, but
because the fact that the people incharge are connected to the
Democrats, we are not hearing about this every waking moment.

to tax corruption irrespective of the persons political affiliation.
A true American would take no joy in seeing a Republican going
to jail because s/he cheated America, neither would they I rejoice
when a Democrat doesn't, or vice versa.
According to the article, Fannie Mae is going to suffer stiff penalties,
and the chief executive is going to have serious problems. It made
the Times, what more do you want?
The reason Martha Stewart was big was because everybody knew
who she was. Did you know who Franklin Raines was before this article?
I admit that I did not.

going to prison. While I believe that her imprisonment is
just and I am relieved when someone who does that sort
of crime gets their just due, I was not 'happy,' per se.
I think that it is a tragedy when anyone lies for personal
gain, not something to be happy about. If I found out
tomorrow that either Trent Lott or Ted Kennedy were convicted
of similar charges, my emotions about the situation would
not change.
It's not unlike finding out someone on this site is a cheater.
Even if I liked the person before I found out, the gross
abuse of trust involved outweighs the benefits they may
have imparted. I cannot look at their work with the same
eyes of admiration.
Any Republican who takes glee in the fall of a corrupt
Democrat but argues against the same penalties for
a Republican is a sick person, in my mind. And, of course,
vice versa. Anyone who abuses the system deserves justice,
but we shouldn't rejoice in it.

P.S., My comments were meant as general comments, not
directed towards you. I don't think you were taking joy in
the content of the article you cited. I was agreeing with you;
any public figure, liberal or conservative, Democrat or Republican
ought to undergo the same scrutiny by the national media.
