Read it again. The whole SCOTUS decision said that the Federal Government has nothing to do with abortion. Hell,, they couldn't WAIT to get rid of it. They got OUT of our personal lives, not into it. Whew.
That simply allowed the state governments to get involved in people's lives.
Now each state can decide for itself how intrusive they want to be into people's lives on this matter. Which in many cases, it's on an obscene level. The american taliban are happy

A good point, touche', but your def of a high standard of living is different than mine, with all due respect. You say above that I don't mention the idyllic bicycle riding countries, etc.? Well, you, you and the more learned such as Marauder, never mention the word Freedom. Independence. Self sufficiency. Personal prosperity. There are more words. Why? Because y ...[text shortened]... ! You fellers can't even keep what you earn without government interference. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Saying norwegians aren't free just makes you sound like an idiot.

As for personal prosperity, the stats speak for themselves. Infant mortality, child poverty, number of incarcerated citizens, life expectancy, literacy, etc.

We do mention the word freedom. We mention how norwegians, canadians, danes, french, british, etc are more free than most americans but your tiny brain addled by years of american propaganda about how americans are just so much better than everyone else just scoffs at the notion.

The fact that one has a safety net in case one gets sick is more freedom than choosing which insurance company will bankrupt you. The fact that one can finish higher education with little or no debt is more freedom than an american paying his student loans into his 50's.

That is another issue. You take issue that a state has a right to ban abortions. Well, all states have different gun laws, divorce laws, custody laws, motor carrier laws, marriage laws, business laws, etc. Texas says no to abortions, but it is OK in Georgia. You are singling out the abortion laws, but people are just as mad at custody laws in their respective state.
So, she needs to get the law changed, or live in a state that is more liberal. She can change states. SOme people want to live in a state where they can carry a gun easily. I'm thinking about it myself. So your pregnant friend hates the abortion ban, I hate the gun ban. Are they both punitive, or are they not punitive?
I hope this makes it easier to understand .

I did not say Norwegians were not free. I say we define freedom differently. You fellers think about government a lot, as it is entwined in your lives, everyone all connected up, but that is not freedom to me. I never think about government in my life. Y'all have at it. BTW your personal prosperity includes spreading your wealth around. Real special, but it would make us less free,, don't you see. Your lib counterparts over here want to punish successful people. Here is a link about punishing success, which happens when you spread the wealth around....which y'all do. brrrrrrr

If I found myself in Norway, I fear that it would not make sense to work hard and make a whole lot of money, which I love doing almost as a hobby.
So, do you think it is likely that I would just settle back, and just..........stop? Downer.

Prosperity starts with FREEDOM, and you can't have freedom with an overbearing, costly, tax-happy government.

Think small. Be happy.

Freedom to Norway is time off and riding bicycles. They are missing so much. Nothing better than a few hideways in my portfolio for me to go on the weekends and fish, build a fire, have a jeep and the 4-wheeler for the kids. No end in sight!!!! Off to visit some of the Scandinavians in the spring, places to visit. The Vasa! Great art, of course, fun food. Ahhh, but gotta get home to keep the business humming, unfettered.
