The chances of something like this happening again are staggering.

I find your title misleading though. The CDC is far from perfect, but the point your making is that every government and agency made mistakes and that we should evaluate things and incorporate lessons learned.

That WMD debacle was the result of President Chaney (Bush Jr was just a figurehead as far as I can see).
He wanted hundreds of billions more for the military and manufactured fake news to start the war, a sad day for the US, sad day among many.
