I like democracy and I don't like dictatorship. Does it really make "no sense" to say I like one and I don't like the other? The U.S. gave us dictatorship. You want me to be grateful to you?
I, however, believe the US has made the world safer for billions of people on this planet abnd I personally am thankful for and proud of my country's efforts.

American troops in Iraq, Afganistan, and elsewhere in and around the Middle East should start withdrawing, and be brought home. It's time for other countries to take responsibility for running there own affairs.

Conservatives in America need to get rid of the stupid notion that stationing American troops in other countries will "somehow" make America ...[text shortened]... e savings to pay down the deficit. It's time to end America's little "wild west show"!
Then we can cut our military back and stop spending a gazzillion dollars a year on keeping people stationed all over the planet.

...and what about South Korea? I'm sure they're doing everything they can in there own defence...right? (If you believe that one, I have a bridge I'll sell ya, cheap!)
Want to go back awhile? How about Viet Nam? They were sure a threat to American security, right. I'm sure the thousands of dead American soldiers would rather have died there, rather than lived normal lives because God knows, the South Vietnamise really busted there butts defending themselves (of course, were not supposed to talk about there 3 hour lunch breaks, and the fact that 30% of them were collaberating with the North.
Yup...it was necessary every one of these soldiers needed to be stationed over seas, and so necessary everyone of them died...right!
Why don't you go back and listen to some more old Ronald Reagan speeches!

I rather think that democracy and freedom in, say, South America, prevailed despite U.S. support for many of the region's dictators.
Indeed, U.S. businesses flourished down there for decades and decades because of the U.S.'s record of helping its puppets, proxies and partners deny whole peoples their basic freedoms.
History overtook the U.S. model in the end and now there are representative democracies in almost all of those countries now. OK, so you don't want to address the inconvenient facts in Indonesia. But what about the inconvenient facts in South America? What is it you are proud of exactly?

We are sending troops and spending billions that we do not have, in a country by and large that do not like us.
