I think that the general idea is that when someone becomes an adult, they are able to make their own decisions. Sometimes it sounds pretty dodgy, perhaps it is, but it's their choice.

Something can be a bad idea without being morally wrong. It is certainly imprudent for a healthy, emotionally mature 30 yr. old to look for an 18 yr. old mate. Have you spoken with any 18 yr. olds recently? They're barely people! What with the poor fashion sense and bad music. Seriously, though, you are only beginning to become at 18 the adult you will be.

Murder is the initiation of force against another. Two people deciding to get married is not.

Speeding can be seen to be an objective threat and is down to the proeprty owners to set the conditions. Privately owned race tracks have no speed restrictions. No paralell can be drawn to two (or three, or more) consenting adults getting married.

Young people do not have the ability to yet make informed decisions, an age of consent must unfortunately be drawn in the sand. IMHO 20 years old is well over that line. Not a paralell.

There's a hole pile of things I don't think are 'right' but until it comes to the initiation of force or threats of force or fraud, it's none of mine or your business.

Well, that's an important question. You're spot on and kind of why I started this thread. There has to be a point where it is acceptable or not acceptable. If it's beyond socially accepted, 'right' then I guess you'd have to do the right thing and so no... or not. If it became law, then you'd have to say no or be a criminal.

A 49 yr old relative of mine recently married a 31 year old lady.

They have lived together for a number of years and seem quite happy.

He looks 'young' to many. No kids involved on either side.

I think, like the curvature of bananas (EU bureaucrats take note), this may be one of those things that, once the parties reach adulthood, does not call for regulation...
