What Trump wanted was for Zelensky to make an announcement that they were going to investigate the Bidens.
It didn't matter where the investigation went !!
All that mattered was the optics that such an announcement would create.
Creating political capital to enhance Trump's re-election chances.
I've seen this happen before. In 2016.
Comey's announcement of reopening Hilary investigation 11 days before election.
Then closing it within 48 hours.
But effectively sinking her campaign.
Now some may argue that Trump may have moved too soon on Biden to effectively enhance his campaign.
But I think there are 2 factors.
One, the intent was to sink Biden in the Democratic primaries, not the presidential contest.
Two, I think he had to make an immediate decision on releasing the aid $$ sooner than later.
And the added twist to all of this is that this caper plays right into Putin's hands in this geo-political game.
Add to that Trump's Syria policy of troop withdrawal, it seems that Trump is carrying out Russian foreign policy instead of American foreign policy.
I also think that the eventual release of Trump's tax returns will somehow align with what is going on here.
How exposed is Trump to the Russian banks, and by extension to Putin ??

That the world's leading democracy cleans up it's act.
If the next election fielded candidates that somehow managed to run relatively clean campaigns, we can have an election where the most important issues were on the table for all to see.
I'm a Canadian so I can't vote.
I'm not a shareholder. But I am a stakeholder !!
What happens in America matters to the world.
The most pressing sore spot at the moment is that democracy is being compromised.
That has to be fixed first !!
Then we can talk about capitalism vs socialism.
And if we do really well, land on a happy medium in the middle.
I for one would not bring myself to vote for a Bernie Sanders in America or a Jeremy Corbyn in the UK.
But sometimes we have to hold our noses to clean up the mess !!
