I don't really care about the republican/democrat blame game aspect of this. I think the saddest thing about it is that once again an American 'country building' exercise has resulted in very expensive (from multiple perspectives) complete failure. I could get behind the original objective of 'get bin laden' post 9/11. But could never accept the rationale that we could 'fix' this country. It came as no surprise to me how quickly it all fell apart. I have a slim hope (just a dream really) that it the future American politicians might learn to stay out of the country building business. I am very sad for all of the future victims of this latest exercise.
@mott-the-hoople saidYou are misinformed. Here's Trump's agreement with the Taliban (done without any participation with the Afghan government): https://www.state.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Agreement-For-Bringing-Peace-to-Afghanistan-02.29.20.pdf
it is not about defeat, everyone agrees that was inevitable. It is about retreating without loss of life. Trumps plan did just that, bidens didnt.
The Taliban made no commitment to not overthrow the puppet government by force only to "start negotiations" with the Afghan government. Trump generously agreed to release 5,000 Taliban prisoners. The result of the agreement didn't "save lives" but led to a sharp increase in Taliban offensive activity and a greater loss of Afghan life as I have already shown you.
The agreement was a dishonorable surrender made only for election year purposes. It would have been better to simply announce a quick withdrawal date and accept the consequences of our failed occupation.
@no1marauder saidwe see the results of “a quick withdrawal.

@mott-the-hoople saidOverall, the quick collapse of the Afghan government certainly saved lives as compared to a years long campaign which would have had the same result anyway.

@no1marauder saidthe people on the tarmac running for their lives as we speak would disagree with you.

@mott-the-hoople saidPerhaps, but I'm right anyway.

@no1marauder saidin your mind...but sticking to facts, biden has really screwed up and is in hiding along with psaki
Perhaps, but I'm right anyway.
@Mott-The-Hoople
Running for their lives because according to Taliban, they are traitors for helping the US in any way. Right now we have 3000 troops just sent there to at least get US citizens out and those interpreters, THOUSANDS of them.
@no1marauder saidWhere can I get one of the crystal balls that you soothsayers are using? Sonhouse knows a lot stuff too, I think he must have one.
