@AThousandYoung saidInteresting. You're the first person* I've seen (in real life or online) who wants Biden to be nominated and also wants the Dems to win.
I want Biden to get nominated because he can beat Trump and we don’t know what will happen if the Dems change things up.
Follow-up: Do you think Biden will or should be President in, say, 2027, or do you figure it will be Harris by then anyway?
* not including Twitter operatives who are little more than bots
@sh76 saidI think Biden will and should be President then yes. The last 3 Presidents who have died lived to well over 90. Carter is 99! Biden's father made it to 86 without modern President level health care.

People said Reagan was senile in 1984 too.

@AThousandYoung
Some people say he had alzheimers before he left office.

A fully competent POTUS is really not necessary when delegating responsibilities and that is what Reagan was known to do. Why do you think congress is wondering who is running things under Biden?
@AThousandYoung saidOh, I'm sure Biden can *live* until 2029, but function on the level necessary to be President? The guy is, even now, walking around half-catatonic and his mind, whatever it once was, is clearly half mush. In three years, I doubt he'll be able to tell time if you spotted him a digital clock.

@sh76 saidCan you think of any policy that has been adversely affected by Biden's seeming diminishing capacity?

@Metal-Brain
Why don't you wait till the sentencing before you go apeshyyte.
If Biden pardons Hunter it will be national news so wait till then before you do you typical weaponizing BS.

@AThousandYoung saidJohn Adams and Thomas Jefferson lived to 90 and 83, respectively, without the need for modern medicine.

@no1marauder saidFor one, the Department of Education is being run so poorly that routine applications are being held up for many months (or years) because they are understaffed and their computer systems are obsolete.
Can you think of any policy that has been adversely affected by Biden's seeming diminishing capacity?
Obviously, it's hard to relate that directly to Biden's dementia, but it's emblematic of a rudderless and atrophying bureaucracy that's suffering from lack of energetic leadership.
@sh76 saidA more likely culprit is budget cuts forced on the administration by House Republicans.https://www.k12dive.com/news/fy-24-budget-proposal-education-department-cut/711098/

Of course, we won't have to worry about the Department's efficiency under Trump since it won't exist.https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/13/politics/trump-department-of-education-states-2024/index.html

@no1marauder saidLargess of Lib Govt at its finest. DEA is the first Dept Trump should get rid of. I think, correct me if I am wrong, that our country has 50 such depts. All with different issues and concerns. Mississippi teaches how to not get pregnant in the Delta, Idaho teaches how to drill for oil. We can all agree that such local matters are best-handled by local home-grown agencies.

So, we all agree that we do not need a Fed-level dept of education. Thankfully, the Repubs are trying to force budget cuts such as the $100M Det of Edu. Write your congressman.

@AverageJoe1 saidGetting rid of DOE doesn't eliminate the ability of the executive branch to control education. That would only eliminate the expertise required to make those regulatory decisions. Instead we'd have a political stooge in the white house handing out random mandates on gender studies.

Interesting that you mention budget cuts here but the issue of debt or deficits is not mentioned anywhere in the republican party political platform. They don't want to eliminate the DOE to save money. They want to eliminate the DOE to concentrate power.

@wildgrass saidYes, that could be. We all agree that both parties want power. I have always found it odd how democrats scream that repubs want power!!,.. as if they don't??

Not only those in blue states.
We know red states want as dumb an electorate as they can manage.
