Maybe the US should slow down the immigration to make it more manageable.

Uncontrolled immigration is a public health hazard.
For the time being, that may be more reasonable than stopping it altogether.

9 million people are were elligable to be US citizens according to this 2019 article. So my hypothesis that the amount of people still trying to be citizens is much higher was correct.

Over 60 percent of citizens, per your link, were new arrivals. There's no reason to think that rate changed in only two years, which would mean at least half of those eligible to be citizens may have been new arrivals.

Keep in mind also that Covid tests are severely limited already; so much so, only severe cases are being tested. So to casually state the U.S. can simply test all new arrivals has no basis in reality.

I was responding from memory and forgot it was 1.18 million rather than just a flat 1 million. Either way, more than half were new arrivals.

Vivify apparently makes the false assumption that everyone
eligible for US citizenship wants to become a US citizen.
In fact, many people don't.
I know some longtime permanent residents of the USA who have
intention of becoming US citizens.

Completely irrelevant. If they enter the U.S., anyone who hasn't been tested poses a risk for spreading Covid-19, if they haven't been tested.

That's a good point.

You're right. I was conflating immigration with travel.

I agree the U.S. should restrict travel, not the legal process of immigration. I was wrong here in confusing the two.

I have to revise my earlier post.

Trump is a scumbag. So no to his plan.

Yes, those visiting have Covid but immigrants don't.

Is that the answer you were looking for?

LOL.
Immigrants are a tiny minority of the total number of people who cross the border. Yes, they might carry Covid-19 but restricting them and not visitors does practically nothing to halt the spread of viruses.

THIS is the danger of you and others in this forum of calling all Americans "right-wing", even those on the left who are trying to stem the tide of this kind of thinking from the right.

Fully half the country is against this kind of hyperbole from the right. Your labeling of the left in this country as just more right-wingers ignores this, and as such, is untruthful.

Tell your president to get off the stick and activate the DPA so that swabs and reagents can be supplied to governors so that "everyone who wants a test can get a test" can become reality.
