The next process will be for lackey American historians to write school text books, to rewr ...[text shortened]... war.

Will any American step up to the plate and explain why they believed the WMD tall tales?

The U.S. is close to communism?

Perhaps the U.S. was close in the 1930s, when there were actually serious communists vying for power, but not today. FDR saved capitalism.

Under the Bush administration, we are inching towards totalitarianism, but we still have a long way to go for that.

I believed them because I saw no reason not to. Why would you assume your government is lying to you about something like that?

FlyUnity -

you say you dont want Iraq liberated because it's unstable? At one time the USA was unstable too, (Luckily we liberated ourselves and didnt need any help.)

You don't know your history. We had a lot of help. The French were huge contributors to our side. Their alliance with us resulted in England declaring war on France.

I suppose we (Maori) have an advantage in the respect that we have been, are still going through, the process of colonisation - and to coin a phrase 'we have our s*** detectors on all the time' - and have, since the 70's anyway, opposed strongly much of what we see as contentious.

Too many times politicians think their 'elevated' positions make them impervious to being disbelieved and that the shame of being unpatriotic will quell the unbelieving 'dissidents'.

Just as we scoffed at Bush and his fiction we are also aware of and actively resist taken for granted discourses that support Bush-like behaviour and supposed Western 'truths' - there are many examples, and the list is long, and many of us find it hard to believe how mistruths can circulate so freely and be so openly supported in a supposedly enlightened society.

Our NZ Govt are no different from any other, there has to be a democratic system invented that prevents so many fools & liars from making it into office! 😛
