..... but we seldom talk about why (young) people use drugs.

Why do you use drugs and why do you think others use drugs ?

Any thoughts ?
I take drugs for high cholesterol and high blood pressure

Having given up class A drugs about 6 years ago, I only use cannibis now. Generally I smoke it, but I've been known to have the occasionaly cake/tea etc. Frequency depends on whether I can afford to spend a little extra or not, but I maybe buy my own in once a month and then partake of that of my friends as and when I am in their narcotically endowed presence. Yes certain drugs for certain situations is generally accepted view within such circles. I would not, for example, take acid before going to a job interview, but I may have a little dab of coke for confidence. Likewise I would not take cocaine before chilling out for an evening in with a hot cup of cocoa and a favourite film.

My reasons for use are quite simply that I enjoy it, nothing more. It gives me greater access to my imagination and creative abilities, whilst putting me in a good mood and often making me laugh, especially with groups of friends. It is great for sex, poetry, philosophy and relaxation. In the world in which I live I am happy to trade my health for these things. I do not envisage taking cannibis all my life, but for nowthe pros outweigh the cons.

I use cocaine in the morning so I can wake up and be able to function at work, and at night I take heavy painkillers (percocet, vicadin) and alcohol to fall asleep. Weed is for pussies and hippies.

My reasons for taking drugs is so that I can temporarily forget about all the things in my life which make me unhappy and an all-around failure.
