when your land is robbed,
when your trees are uprooted,
when your rights are ignored,
when you are discriminated,
when your livelihood is denied,
when your children are endangered?

You fight, you resist, you protest.

What would you do? Presumably, adam, you would also screen out their posts if you were in the same Debate Forum as them. That would really show them what's what in a rough world.

but once said resistance has succeeded and you are now the tribe with all the power, do you then proceed to

rob land of others,
uproot trees of others,
ignore the rights of others,
discriminate against others,
deny the livelihood of others,
endanger the children of others?

Or would you treat those less powerful than yourself with justice and compassion, even if it would be more beneficial for your tribe to ruthlessly exploit the weak?

Tribe?
tribe = family, group, clique, ethnic group, class group, religious body, political organization, or whatever other social organizations humans form.

it's easy to castigate the "tribe" that is in power, while feeling sorry for those "tribes" that are currently getting the short end of the stick. But yesterday's exploited masses can become tomorrow's reckless pillagers.

Is this really the "point" you're trying to make?

Dare I ask: What tribe is your tribe currently exploiting and killing so that they don't become the oppressors of tomorrow?

My point is that it's easy to romanticize the "oppressed people" while demonizing the "oppressors". And it's easy to excuse anything these oppressed people do as merely "resisting the oppressor". The message seems to be that if only we could somehow liberate and empower those "oppressed peoples", we'll usher in a golden age of equality in which no one ever oppresses anyone ever again.

In the case of the Israelis and Palestinians -- suppose we were to totally "liberate" the Palestinian people and they became the controllers of the entire Levant? Would they behave any better than the Israelis, or the British, or the Turks, or the Christians, or the medieval Arabs, or the Romans, or the Greeks etc when they were the ones in control? Or would the Palestinians proceed to oppress everyone who didn't adhere to their religion and culture?

I guess that's a point all right... 😕 Let us oppress today so that our oppressed of today aren't the oppressors of tomorrow. 😕

Whose neck are you putting your boot on, by the way?

The only way to end the never-ending chain of peoples oppressing other peoples is for some "superpower" to step in and put the boot to enough necks until everyone agrees not to oppress each other.

Of course, this means that the "superpower" will have to be willing to put it's own neck on the line to maintain order -- and by definition, there's no outside force to stop that "superpower" from becoming an oppressor itself. Are there any "superpowers" out there that you would trust to effectively mete out justice?

maybe you'd approve of this one 😀

Can you provide an argument that backs up this bold assertion of yours?

I claim that my assertion is self-evident.

All you need to do to refute my bold assertion is to provide an example of a powerful group of people that never oppresses those with less power.

I did mention that my assertion creates a great dilemma -- because then, even if the comic book character Adam Warlock himself existed, he too would end up being an oppressive force. But if you can show me a powerful group of people that always behaves in a fair and just fashion, there may then be some hope of eliminating all oppression.
