@techsouth saidNot good for democracy if the interpretation of any disagreement with your point of view is immediately dismissed (indeed, pre-dismissed) as a result of political brainwashing.
It may have died before that when Democrats have been so conditioned by their news sources and censored social media feeds that a major opposing political candidate can be arrested and they are no longer even capable of being suspicious that something is amiss.
I can pretty much predict what replies I'm going to get for this assertion. I can guarantee you there won't b ...[text shortened]... emocrat. It will be nothing but things that I could cut and paste myself from their "news" sources.
Keep in mind the other side thinks you're brainwashed too. Is it perhaps possible that some people who are not demon-rats would disagree with you?
Is it possible that a politician can be arrested for committing real crimes?
@shavixmir saidUnfortunately, when the US passes gas, the rest of the world smells the stench.
One can only hope, for America’s sake, that the republicans on this forum are unrepresentative of the rest of that party.
Because, otherwise, you guys are fukked.
The current GOP is a monster. Robert Reich, a deep lefty, recently suggested that Liz Cheney run in 2024. Neither Reich nor I would vote for her, but she has integrity and believes in the Constitution. She would represent a decent conservative choice. Maybe Romney could be her VP.
@phranny saidI hardly read this because….they are not his words. So I would be reading the words of someone, for all we know, who is likely Marxist. An anti-constitution person, maybe.
In Tempe, Arizona, today, President Joe Biden spoke at the dedication ceremony for a new library, named for the late Arizona senator John McCain, who died in 2018. Biden used the opportunity not only to honor his friend, but to emphasize the themes of democracy and to call out those who are threatening to overturn it. While Biden has made the defense of American democracy cen ...[text shortened]... -our-democracy/

Hey, It could all be true, good stuff. But I don’t read a book where I don’t know who wrote it.
@Phranny
Biden is correct that the Rep. Party has been radicalized by an extremist faction. However, he is historically mistaken that this is new or due to Trump personally or primarily to Trump’s MAGA supporters. It happened over ten years ago when the Rep. Party swallowed up the Tea Party ( which should have remained an independent 3d party). Republicans at the time believed they could moderate and tame the Tea Party. The opposite has happened: the Tea Party has radicalized the formerly slightly-to-the-right-of-centerist Rep. Party. This is nowhere more obvious than in McCarthy’s inability to pass a budget without conceding the field to the single most radical member.
@averagejoe1 saidI don’t think I’ll be reading any posts ostensibly by you any more, since I don’t know who really wrote them. Could be ChatGPT: ‘write me a right-wing diatribe about the benefits of unrestricted capitalism, the scandal of open borders, slothful immigrants — so an eight year-old can understand it.’

@averagejoe1 saidOne suggestion: pull your head out. Joe Biden isn't as feeble as you think. I know it goes against the only argument you have, but too bad.

@moonbus saidHe would still miss the subtleties.

@suzianne saidYou fellers get so personal.
He would still miss the subtleties.
Why? How bout saying instead that you disagree on an issue. If I say “ I think it is too cold to swim,’ , in the same way that I might say ‘ I think Biden should always wear a blue tie’, ., would you speak to me on the lake dock, in front everyone, like you speak to me in your posts? Of course not.
Further, would you retort in that way on a debate stage?
Geez, you won’t even answer THAT question……….
@averagejoe1 saidSince you refuse to read posts from legitimate sources and/or posts that are more than a dozen words, an intelligent conversation with you is not possible.

@phranny saidEasy. You know the speech is written by another person or a roomful of people. You are asking us to read it as if it was written by Biden?

@averagejoe1 saidAll presidents have speech writers. They work in conjunction with the president to shape their message into a good speech. The content, the ideas, the beliefs in the speech belong to the person, the president, giving the speech. I really hope you represent a small minority of the voting public, regardless of party affiliation.

@mott-the-hoople saidEveryone rest easy, Suzianne, our forum sage, says he is 'not as feeble as we think'. I do wish that she would say what that statement means. How does she know what Moonbus thinks?
falling is the new sport 😂
and he is damned good at it
@suzianne saidJust off the wall,,,,,He did as you say speak to saving democracy, but he is trying to rule by fiat in several cases, like tuition forgiveness.
A great speech.
Didn't seem like a doddering old fool to me.
It would help us inept republicans to understand your reasoning on that,..... Biden is going against democracy, is he not? Dictating such matters. Mussolini did that.
@suzianne saidPlease, I asked you fellers for any untruths that are published by Breitbart, and no one answered.
Read it well, you won't find examples of the truth in YOUR media sources.
This post by me is to say that you libs are renown in saying we have no truth in our media, and I pleasantly ask you all to tell us where there is untruth in my favorite source, Breitbart. If you say Fox or Guardian or whatever, you waste your words here, as I am asking about Breitbart.
Thankyou in advance.
