It's just a lazy way of writing Christmas...many words in America these days are shortened, especially sports teams' names....Bosox, Chisox, D-Backs, etc....

Whenever I see Christmas written like "Xmas," I can't help but think "crossmas" in my head. My chemistry teacher would often shorten the term "crystals" to "xtals," not sure if that's standard or not, but I kept thinking "crosstals" there too.
Can someone tell me where this shorter form came from? I know it's not a debate, but it could be. It just doesn't make terribly much sense to me to shorten it like that.
He included it because it was too time consuming to type out the word Chrystal in each message send.
The "xtal set society" is one of the largest radio clubs in the world. I used to do that as one of my hobbies. Long ago. Far away. In a galaxie where Chrystals power space craft and have magic in em'.

Oh yea. I am sure glad that God never named his kid "X". Can you imagine the power of "The X-Men" movies would have over society.
