@Suzianne saidIt was invented in 1966 by Ron Karenga. Nobody celebrated it, and it stayed that way for a couple decades before it started to get picked up. In the 70's nobody even heard of Kwanza. Even today, hardly anyone celebrates it.
Kwanzaa was first celebrated in 1966.
Kamala was not quite two.
You Republicans think lying is a competitive sport, that must be why you think everyone lies. Try again.
Her story was nonsense.
@Cliff-Mashburn saidYou aren't black, so of course you never heard of it. Stop thinking everyone has the same social cues as you.

Karenga said his goal with Kwanzaa was to "give Blacks an alternative to the existing holiday and give Blacks an opportunity to celebrate themselves and their history, rather than simply imitate the practice of the dominant society." Karenga later said that "Kwanzaa was not created to give people an alternative to their own religion or religious holiday." Many African Americans who celebrate Kwanzaa do so in addition to observing Christmas.
I'm sure many black families were aware of it from the beginning. Since this holiday was established in California and spread from there, I have no reason to disbelieve Kamala's experience. I can see why you, as a Trumper, have reason to disbelieve, but don't try to pass this off as anything other than white people trying to deny the black narrative.
@Suzianne saidI was in my twenties through the 70's, lived in LA , same as Karenga.

There was no public knowledge of Kwanza and blacks weren't celebrating it.
Ron Karenga was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 1971 and his pseudo-holiday died until he got out and started pushing it again.
Kamala is making up BS stories about celebrating it as a child. Neither her mother or father would have had anything to do with it, it wasn't part of their religious beliefs.
