i do not buy chess books i borrow them from my local library they
alone have about 60 different titles and i have read them all except
one where there is a typo eror in it instead of saying something like
Bf3 it says stuff like Qb-Kb3 and so on i understand this a little but
my brain will frazzle if i try reading the whole book.
Well Ryan how r u, U old geezer??
well actually ive started reading and the more i read i say ah yes thats
right if such and such. sure thing but from my experience the moves
dont happen the way the book makes out. they are good for a guide
but unless you have the identical board as discribed in the book it
doesnt give much advice! so how do you identify your moves??????
I am guessing that you are referring to the books like MCO, Nunn's
Chess Openings (NCO), and The ECO set...which just give you tons of
variations stemming off the main lines. Yes these are very helpful in
knowing the main line and a little of what can happen. They deal with
ALL the major openings.
But what really helps are the "specialty" books on a certain
opening....such as "Winning with the Philidor"...which looks at all the
variations of the Philidor and uses GM games...as well as the author's
commentary to help you grasp the theory...what you are trying to
achieve...and what to look out for.
I hope that helps.
