@very-rusty saidYou and Butt-head owe Pondy and all the other authors an apology for trying to screw up their contest.
They do have many talented story tellers on here, competition is tough.
@handyandy saidStop your noise Andy, and read everything that was said.

I don't know who you mean by butt head, but do know if someone called you that you'd be alerting it for sure. You're a bit of hypocrite that way!
A sample of what was said last as you obviously missed it or ignored it.

@handyandy saidWe have Moderators here to remove posts and why didn't you alert them as off topic at the time Andy? Why wait until now after I have something nice to say about the writers. I believe Pondy knows he did a good job, he certainly doesn't need confirmation from me on that he already got it from most of those involved in writing. Did you write something or are you just finding something to complain about?

Please don't engage in a lengthy discussion here.
In fact it would do VR an undeserved honour to imply that he could derail the contest. he is within his rights to post whatever he wants wherever he wants. As he often explained to us. And evidently the moderators agree completely with that view.
He would only owe an apology if he felt guilty about anything which he evidently doesn't do.
However VR I do offer you the option to organize the event next year.

And...as long as VR is doing so; we are within our rights to stop posting anything at all.
Enjoy the splendid conversation.
Fascination, has never known such depths.
@ponderable saidPondy that was put very well Politically. You should get a ton of green thumbs, good post. (I even gave it one)

I believe your offer for me to organize next years event is obviously disingenuous.
I don't believe I have anything to apologize for and there is the "OFF TOPIC" option to alert a post.
Why don't we have a forum where everyone agreed on everything? Wouldn't that be fun for about a month maybe at best.
I have taken time away from the threads where people thought I had been banned from them which wasn't the case. It wasn't long before I saw posters arguing among themselves.
That is why we have clubs Pondy, so people who think alike can get together and talk about things of interest to them. The General Forum is a place where everyone have an opinion and talk about different things.
I've thought for years now that the Prose competition should be held in Culture. I know why it is held in the GF as few even bother with the "Culture Forum"!

I am having a change of mind. I am starting to realize that there is an element of malice in Very Rusty's posting. I've always thought it was merely harmless, dreary drivel. But, on this thread, I think there has been some malice and even a bit of sociopathy underpinning what he is doing.
@very-rusty saidThere is nothing disingenuous about obvious sarcasm.

Isn't it good to be able to express yourself. By the way you can think I mean malice if you wish, that is not the case. You are still free to think in anyway that you wish. So now you believe I'm a sociopath that also is your prerogative, also doesn't make you correct in that statement. I think you just enjoy arguing for arguments sake, which you've proven over your time on here.

I said this in another thread, but I'll say it again here. Trolls, like tumors, come in two varieties: benign and malignant. Benign ones are unsightly and take up space, but they don't kill the host; whereas malignant ones grow into critical (t)issues and cut off the nerves or blood supply to a vital organ, killing the host.
For example, cutting off the Black people from voting in the USA, out of deluded fear that mail-in ballots could be faked, is malignant and could conceivably kill democracy in America.
The annual Prose Competition, however, is alive and well, as evidenced by the consistently high quality of entries and difficulty of choosing a single winner. At least 6 different entries were voted best by one or more persons, and that is testament to the vitality of this event -- a gatecrasher (or two) notwithstanding.
This show's over. Time to go home now.
See y'all next year!
