Giskard peered inquisitively at Seldon, “I sense rudimentary biochemicals, alcohol and artificial flavourings?”. “Just hold it” Seldon grumpily retorted at the Series 12 android adding “R Daneel has deactivated his ‘find my robot’ app”.
Giskard, resting on his right elbow, his forearm angled outward at what he approximated to 45 degrees, gently rotated his right hand at the wrist, an action which he had seen on many American movies, and which caused the liquid in his glass to swirl and chink the ice cubes in what he considered a pleasing random sound. It was a causal nuanced gesture which he had practiced at home and one which was intended to subliminally signal his sense of ease to Seldon.
Seldon raised his eyes to look at the glass and then again upward further to look at Robot Giskard …. both “men” laughed quietly and Seldon asked “how well do you know R Daneel?”
Giskard breathed in deeply, a standard faux gesture (robots don’t need oxygen) from his ultra sophisticated pre-programmed set of casual physical responses, looked at Seldon and said “too well” … “we served together in the Knowledge War and he is a formidable adversary”.
Seldon stiffened, downed the dregs of his drink leaving the remnants of ice in the glass and said …..
