on the 12th of july at 12:00am protestant people all across n. ireland will be lighting bonfires to celebrate something some dutch guy did in the past, the preceding couple of months is filled my people collecting scraps, tires, pretty much anything they can get hold of that will burn. it is used as a great dumping site for stuff that you don't need anymore, hire a skip? nope, we'll just dump it at the closet bonfire.
and then there lies a tree, a young tree, happily growing close to where i live. it's not hurting anyone, in fact it's helping us with it's small supply of oxygen.
a couple of weeks ago i noticed that the tree had been hacked down but not for the bonfire, oh no, it was just sitting there still a little attached to the trunk.
i'm not going to defend anyone for cutting down this tree, far from it but i could understand (if not agree) if they had taken it down for the bonfire but no this was done out of shear boredom? lack of respect for tree kind? because they can?
two weeks on the fallen tree remains, but for how long will this injustice of trees continue before the little c***s who did this are getting their legs and arms cut off? life just isn't fair for the tree, is it?

i know, the bonfires should be banned, you write the government here a letter. i and about 30% of the population will no doubt sign it.

Originally posted by Raven69well, there's a window of a flat a couple of meters from where it fell, so if there was someone in that room at that time it's possible but then again it really is a small tree and it also fell on grass so i guess we'll never know.
When the tree fell, do you think anyone heard it?
if you want to come over we can ask the people in the flat together if they heard it falling?
Originally posted by trev33Well you can ofcourse care about the one tree, im sure it was a pretty one. But the poluting has priority now:p
