Certainly 2 of the best imagination toys ever created. There was nothing you couldn't build or places you couldn't visit with them!
Don't forget K'nex. I had those... sigh...

K'nex came quite a bit after my childhood days, but a good one too.

Now a toy I haven't seen mentioned is Play Doh'.

Ah yes, small sticks that allowed you to create that western fort or log cabin and let the imagination just fly!

Now how did I forget about tinker toys? Made some of my best cars and space ships with them.

did i ever tell you about the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville? I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. 'Give me five bees for a quarter,' you'd say.

Now where were we? Oh yeah - the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

I was just sitting here, at work again, bored again. and decided to revisit some of my old posts, and ran across this one. One of my better posts I think. At least I enjoyed some of the memories it brought up.

I'm getting old.

I guess my message was a reflection on the childhood imagination, ...[text shortened]... gets how to imagine these things, just children do it so much better, when given the chance.
After reading about all the toys your nephews had etc. not only did it appear to me that your post was about childhood imagination, but also how materialistic society has become.

i enjoyed reading your reflection it was nicely put 🙂
