In all honesty, I was confused at first as well.

But, on second reading, knew what you were saying.
There are times, Red, when all of us are set like flint (with self esteem,

autonomy, near invincibility). At other times, we're reduced to dish rags.

Three things mentioned represent a few of my vulnerabilities. That's all.

"Bit of a big head you appear to have there Bobby, I've a vice that can solve that." -Sicilian Smaug

.................

Quite comforting, in our topsy turvy world, to know that some things remain unchanged...

such as your silky physician forum-side manners, which revel in being crass and unkind.

By the way, Smaug, got rid of the Reti and Fischer stuff and tried to tighten it up to help

it flow from my present diminished situation/station to chess and to life and to eternity...

"No longer capable of tactical brilliancies. Quite content nowadays to navigate familiar
turf, festina lente, hopeful my opponents' errors/blunders may often exceed my own.

"You need not play well, just help your opponent to play badly." -Genrikh Chepukaitis.
“The tactician must know what to do whenever something needs doing; the strategist
must know what to do when nothing needs doing” -Tartakover. “Only the player with
the initiative has the right to attack” -Wilhelm Steinitz. “Chess simulates life” -anon.

"My left is weakened. My right is broken. The situation is excellent. I'm on the attack."
Field Communiqué to Headquarters, Marshal Foch (French Commander, 1851-1929)

“There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those
to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way'" -C.S. Lewis. "Religion is the
fashionable substitute for belief." -Oscar Wilde. 'There's a hole in the heart of man
in the shape of God. If I believe in the risen Christ and it's just a devious falsehood,
there is nothing to lose. If true, then I have everything to gain.' -Pascal (1623-1662)"
