Both Russia and Turkey are partly in Europe, but you're the only person I've ever heard of who considered Israel to be European.

Try getting a game going with vegeta. He's from Winnipeg and I think he's about the same age as you.

Why are Israel, Turkey and Russia counted as Europeans
It is a question of geography vrs politics, history and culture.

Turkey: The gateway from Europe to Asia used to be the entrance into the Black Sea in Constantinople, which is now called Instanbul, this is the capital of Turkey. Turkey has strong links with the Austro-Hungarian Hapsburg dynasty which controlled nearly all of SW europe up until the time of Napoleon. Thus Turkey has always been part of Europe historically, georpahically and politically. Turkey will be a memeber of the European Union.

Russia: Historically Russia has never considered itself to be european. Since the time of Peter the Great in the early 1700's it has looked to have influence and learn from Europe, but it has always seen istself to be distinctly different - a subcontinent in its own right. Intermarrige of Royal families brought the Russian upper classes closer to europe, indeed they actually spoke French to shoe how sophisticated they were to there "peasant" population. Post revolution Russia was pulled back into Europe by Stalins little adventure into Eastern Europe. The USSR had to be part of Europe since it controlled half of the georaphical continent.

Israel: Israel is not part of Europe, but socially it is a nation made up mainly of people of European decsent, of course, Israel was given to the Jewish people after the horrors of the Nazi genocide in WW2. Politically it makes sense to keep Israel as much out of the way of its Arab nations as possible. As for them being in the Euro football leagues - can you imagine them in the Middle East qualifiers! Syria and Israel going for a world cup place play off. These people generally do not need a reason to fight each other!!!

A sick joke played on us by our European friends!

It is a song contest, each European country enters a song, they all perform them and each country votes for its top 10 songs. It is all very silly, the songs are usually awful, and the blatent nationalism is silly. I doubt you know who Terry Wogan is so I will stop there...

The presenters usually speak in rhymes which is really annoying. Normally the people you see in the Eurovision contests suddenly disappear when it's all over never to be heard from in the music world again. πŸ˜›

Ankara is the capital of Turkey, not Istanbul. Constantinople used to be the capital of the Ottoman Empire.
