While agree with you somewhat..chess is for fun...but some of us take
it very seriously. I have been playing OTB tourney chess since I was
8...and becoming a NM meant alot to me. Being 9th on here means
alot to me. Just like being #1 on MAP means alot to John.
I have no allusions as to being the "greatest"...which I stated
earlier...but I am pretty good..and I take pride in that.
If you are just here for fun...then I repect that...but please respect the
fact that some of us are very competitive.
Dave
I have never come on here and claimed I was "God" as some others
have done. That I find is more than not having humility..that is trying
to make up for an inferiority complex or something.
But not all top players are like that. KnightmareNJ who is #3 right now
is very cordial and very humble....as well as just an overall great
person. fernando jp vasquez is the same. My little bud zumdahl is
very friendly and does no bragging...and as for the rest I have not
really seen them say much except for the top 2.
If I forgot any of the other T20 guys in this I am sorry...please
forgive..from what I have seen..the ones that do not brag...just
prove..are good people.
Dave
I can see that my sense of humor is much too subtle for some people. Perhaps I
should append all my posts with an "lol" so you will know when I am not being
serious. The so called logic I put forward as evidence for my "greatness" was
obviously absurd, and was intended to be nothing more than a parody of other,
more poorly written claims to greatness. I expected at least one person would
come forward and point out the many glaring flaws in my reasoning. But alas,
either everyone accepted the validity of my claim, or they felt my post not
worthy of response (probably the latter). That someone with such meager ability
as myself should come forth and proclaim himself "the greatest" is itself an
absurd situation. One which I felt could not possibly be taken seriously.
But you've got to understand - you are the only person who actually used some attempt at
LOGICAL REASONING to support your claim to being the greatest here. And that in it self makes
you worthy of the title.
And sorry, there are no glaring flaws in you impeccable, Holmesian deductive logic skills. Perhaps
one could quibble with a hidden assumption or two, but those are mere trifles. I fear it is simply
your piousness and humility that prevents you from accepting the mantle of greatness you so richly
deserve.
And just so people know:

Congratulations!
By my very detailed -and irrefutable - calculations you have gained
423 points in a mere 62 days. As we all know from fundamental
physics, "an object in motion tends to stay in motion." Hence you will
gaining at this exact same rate from now on.
Thus, at your current rate of meteoric accent, you will achieved a rating
of 1982 and become the number one player here on July 30, 2002,
10 am greenwich mean time. I salute you!
It is a predictable as the rising of the moon!
