I got this message:
"Dear all,
On Saturday the 25th of October there's a meet-up of RHP people, venue is Amsterdam!
Most info can be found at Thread 92700, or ask shavixmir (User 60981) for details..
Rumour has it that Russ and/or Chris might make it too, opportunity to meet the creators / administrators of the site.. but more importantly, there's beer!
It was told to me that the initial meeting point will be the BullDog Cafe at Leidseplein around 14:00 local time..

Now I want to know what the program is for this afternoon.
I read some disturbing things about a tourist tour in Amsterdam...
In principle I'm interested in coming together in a pub and have a great time with fellow-rhp-ers and some chess and drinks, but I don't want a tourist tour.....
So any input is welcome!

My guess is that more people are fine with just that, so no need to be afraid of thinking that you have to be a tourist..
By the way, I'm not sure if the Bulldog Cafe is suitable to sit down for some chess, but there are many places around where you do have the opportunity.. but some of us need to bring a chess board and pieces, because I don't know any place that's already equipped with all that..
But the Bulldog Cafe is easiest to spot and very suitable to meet-up and have a first drink (or 2)..

It must be ruining the tourist trade.
Every Dutch guy I've worked with in the past has been nicely nuts.. I'm so hoping that wasn't down to the lenient drug smoking policy 😀

Every Dutch guy I've worked with in the past has been nicely nuts.. I'm so hoping that wasn't down to the lenient drug smoking policy 😀
You can still smoke cigarettes, just not in the pub.
You see, smoking is bad for your health, so they force you to do it out on the streets where it's bad for the health of passers by, instead of the health of the people who choose to go into the establishment.
I'm sure the tobacco industry is behind it, somewhere, somehow.
