RHP has had many good times in the past, present and I am sure that in the future.
But personally, I dont want to know all of those good times, I want to know more about the bad times this site has experienced... π
So lets lets see............:
a) In your opinion, who was/is the biggest trouble maker this site has ever known.
b) In your opinion what was the most interesting fight ever on RHP
c) What was your biggest fight ever on RHP.
d) Who Is/Was the biggest liar ever on the site, and what did he do
e) What was the Biggest blow up the site has ever seen
I know that some of you may feel uncomfortable answering these questions, but maybe someone out there can be honest, and really speak his mind.

I will start with question A. Answer is Xenophobe. Cribs had friends on the site. I doubt Xenophobe had a one. To complicate it even more he was the #1 player at the time. Rated a mere 1700+.
And I believe he turned out to be a moderator? Or ws that Shliemann? π im not sure...

The point is that the site survived very difficult situations and personalities in the past. It is helpful to know that, and as you have mentioned, probably not helpful to rehash old dirt.
In my opinion this thread is very counter-productive.
The problems we have encountered in the past really do not need to be dug back up and played with.

A user that I used to play against regularly actually lived near xenophobe and they played a few games over the board on one occasion - apparantly, in the flesh xenophobe came across as chess obsessed, slightly odd in that chess-obsessive way, polite and willing to discuss the games that they played.

Tuco was trouble.

Wasn't it Tuco who made such trouble for Schliemann that he left the site? if so, then he was definitely the biggest troublemaker. Schliemann was an asset to RHP, and i only hope he is here playing under a different name.

'Xenaphobe' and threefigs: Both players caused a stir by cheating their way into the top 20, though the former was overshadowed by the real Xenophobe (who incidentally appeared to have used the same cheat). What I find interesting is that no-one seemed to notice that these people weren't cheating for the sake of prestige, they were cheating in the most obvious way possible to highlight the then widespread problem of using dummy accounts to boost ratings. Russ cracked down on this eventually with the TOS, but in the short run all that most forumites seemed concerned with was wiping the rating of Xenaphobe and threefigs, which did nothing to address the underlying issue.
Schliemann v sintubin: When both players were right near the top of the table, active forum members, and had recently been team captains in USA v ROW, one of RHP's first big tournaments, Schliemann accused sintubin of using a program. The resulting spat was interesting not only because of discussions about the nature of cheating and the difficulty of detecting programs, but because of the almost instinctive taking of sides by other players which quickly soured the whole forum. In the end Schliemann took a break from RHP soon after, and sintubin resigned all his games and kept a low profile, but had they both chosen to escalate things we could have had real tribalism in the forums.
Cribs and the issue of what is acceptable content: People tend to see Cribs as either the architect or the chief victim of all this, but in reality the picture is more complex and would have gone on independently of Cribs. On the one hand there was an argument about the large number of religious threads in the forums, and whether they constituted spamming; on the other, the issue of what constituted 'offensive language': was it just personal attacks and swear words, or was it more extensive? The underlying issues are still controversial, even after Cribs has given up any intention of returning, so this is arguaby an ongoing situation and I'd be interested to see the final resolution.
I think the important thing is that in all these cases there were serious questions asked, going beyond the tribulations of a single player, and it was an opportunity for us all to learn about how to organise a forum community. Some lessons have been learnt, and each time RHP has come out better than before, but I think we'd still do well to remember what problems we've had and what needs to change to stop them recurring.

B)So many, it's too hard to pick. The Cribs vs anyone with a brain was quite interesting.
C) orkyboy vs rwingett was my biggest fight. It was over grammar and spelling (how sad is that?)
D) I would say zach918 but I know loads of people will disagree with me.
E) Blow up? What do you mean by that?
