@huckleberryhound saidThe Brothers Lionheart is excellent for reading together with an adult. It may encourage some discussion and perhaps explanation. It deals with love, life, death, sympathy and politics (easy to understand).
Thanks guys, keep em coming.
I have 1984, and Treasure Island ready to go, but pretty sure i'm being to dude in my choices. We read a chapter together every day, it's kind of our thing after Piano practice.
@huckleberryhound saidTreasure Island no doubt will be appreciated. 1984 though can be a bit heavy and difficult to understand even for grownups.

@suzianne saidGreat book. Was my sister's favorite as a kid. I liked the Lion King, never read watership down but the original animation was my favorite movie growing up, the new one which I think might be on Netflix was terrible.

@huckleberryhound saidWow, 9 already. How time flies.π€π
Read "Animal Farm" to my 9 year old daughter. She quite enjoyed it, and seemed to enjoy it.
Looking for suggestions of literature to read to her. Something to stir her imagination, and build her intelligence. Classics that she will enjoy.
Any suggestions?
As for a book choice, my go to book is, “My Family and Other Animals” by Gerald Durrell.
@great-big-stees saidI love comics, the pictures are worth a thousand words and tells you the story. π

@huckleberryhound saidSherlock Holmes, start with short stories. 9-yr-old's reasoning faculties are just waking up at that time and logic puzzles often grab them in a very big way.
