Originally posted by darvlayi've heard a few horror stories from people who took lariam, i think i'd rather get malaria than go through that. that was one of the 3 tablets i was quoted to choose from, think i'll pick one of the other 2.

well, considering doxy is about 20p per tablet and malarone £2:20 per tab and lunch in india will be around £1, i'd say the cost would be an issue to most people, if only for the unanswered question of why should they pay more for something that does the same job?
i didn't bother with any maleria tabs for s. america, the only place i was in that was consid ...[text shortened]... switch to malarone before i leave. don't think you can get malarone in india anyway.

seriously dude if i wanted to look at a bunch of wiki sites i'd google it instead of starting this thread asking for peoples actual experiences.
try the travel nurse at your HMO or job or whatever. over here (USA) the travel nurse'll print you out several pages of recommendations based on the areas you're traveling to, including maps of affected areas, and a list of vaccinations and prophylactics to take.
Originally posted by zeeblebotalready been to a 'travel nurse' and have checked various online articles on the subject, that's stuffs easy. what isn't so easy is to hear of other peoples personal experiences, that's where a 'general' forum comes in, had i wanted to view the 'wiki link' forum that's where i would've went.
