The noun is 'phosphorus", with a "u", not with "ou". I you must, absolutely must, spell it "fosforus". But do not spell the noun with "ou".
"Phosphorous" is an adjective, meaning "like, or containing, phosphorus". It does not and can not have a source! It is not something in its own right - it is only, exclusively, used to describe something else. You can have a "phosphorous glow" - you cannot, under any circumstances, have merely a "phosphorous".

Websterisms. If you spelled words like "colour" and "honour" correctly in the first place, you would not need to spell "phosphorus" wrong, either. Learn, already.
