If English is your first language and you live in North America, the odds are pretty good that you suck at math and English.
math on the other hand just seemed natural.
when i was in school we had a top and bottom tear with 3 groups in each. i was in the first group for science and math but the 3rd for english - forking dyslexia
in high school I had this towering 2.00m paranoid rhinocerus of a math teacher, who pressed for as efficient and fast talk as possible. which meant that he actually left vowels off from both written and spoken words. naturally nobody was able to understand anything from his teaching, but the guy was so strict, intimidating and demanding that everybody had to work out the stuff themselves.
the english teacher was a drunk who used more time on banging the french teacher than teaching us. he knew everything from oe, old norse etc to modern germanic stuff though, and was keen to share his knowledge if asked. but he had no motivation whatsoever to force knowledge on us, so he basically let us do whatever we wanted. on the first day he announced that anybody not willing to learn anything would get a passing grade if they just shut up and don't bother him the whole year. and he actually did it.
yeah, the english classes were definitely way easier.

Bang bang+ Bang bang=Ouch Ouch Ouch Ouchπ... sounds like a good teacher to me.
So why is it that math teachers are mean as crap and english teachers are all drunks??

Yes, I do. I had a red-headed, evil-looking, evil, evil, evil math teacher early on that scarred me for life.

some people just have a more logical brain than others - some prefer the arty things like writing and painting etc but i hated all that crap
and i had a female maths teacher for two years who was soooooo sexy. her low cut tops contributed to my rather large obsession with womens chesticles ππ
